A question for anyone living near or familiar with this area....
I am looking to book a Residence Inn in the LA area, and have already used the one in El Segundo. I thought I might see if I could get one closer to DLR and see that there are two of them. One is in Anaheim (which I would like people's comments on, as well) and the other is in Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda.
Can anyone tell me which area I would feel better about choosing? The bulk of our trip would be to tour around LA, but I would like a day or two at DLR, and not have to drive a great distance to get there. I'm sure these two both have tour pickups available.

Anaheim Hills is nice. We drive by there all the time and we used to have friends that lived there. It's not particularly close to DLR though and it's really not very close to LA. I would say you should look for something along the 5 freeway if you want it to be convenient for both DLR and LA. We used to live in La Mirada and it's right on the border of LA and Orange counties so maybe something around there would be good. La Mirada is a nice little city and you might find something good in Buena Park since that's where Knott's Berry Farm is. Cerritos might be another option. I wouldn't recommend Norwalk or Downy though. I'm sure there are nicer places there but when we lived close by we didn't particularly like going to those cities.

Hope that helps!

Between the two, I recommend the Residence Inn in Anaheim.

Anaheim Hills would not be close or convenient for your plans.

Thanks to both of you for your helpful comments. My desire is to use a Residence Inn for a number of reasons, so I will look in the areas that you mentioned also, LavenderPeach. Do you by any chance know of any in those areas?

There are two Residence Inn's in Anaheim - one is Maingate and one is Resort area.

I recommend the Maingate. It has separate buildings and is right off of the 5-freeway.

If I chose that one, is there a good chance that I could be picked up by tour company buses to do LA/Hollywood tours?

I believe so. They have tours from the Anaheim hotels for the LA/Hollywood and the LA/Hollywood/Universal Studios Combo tours.

There's one in La Mirada right off the 5. I've never stayed there so I can't comment on how the hotel is but it seems like it would be a convenient location for you. I guess the downside would be that there's probably no tour company pick-up for hollywood tours if you're looking for that.

I know...I have discovered that as I have checked tour company sites. I am now re-thinking staying as near DL and moving closer to LA. The La Mirada site sounds awesome tho!
