I hope this didn't impact anyone's Christmas trip! What a mess.

Yup...our SW flights today to Anaheim got canceled so we are road trippin down. Luckily only 6 hours away so not a deal breaker and were able to adapt.

I'm so glad you didn't have to cancel your trip! I hope it all goes well for you from here :)

My daughter flew to Sacramento from SNA to come home for Christmas. Her return flight Tues was canceled, but not until we'd already driven the 2 hours to the airport and the 2 hours back home. So...we turned around and drove back to get her. She had to be home (Irvine) by tomorrow so she ended up renting a car one-way and drove back today.

That was nothing compared to what so many have had to deal with, and it got me wondering about those on this board who had Disney Christmas trips! Hoping it worked out for everyone.

The news coverage of airport is OVERWHELMING. So many stranded people....
All the luggage just sitting there, stacking up next to the carousel.

When we travel I never check bags on the out-going leg of the flight. If I can't fit it in the carry-on and my backpack it doesn't go.

I've learned to pack a large-huge barrel bag in my carry on. When it's time to go home we pack valuables & souvenirs in the carry-on and backpack. All the dirty laundry is stuffed into the barrel bag. The barrel bag is usually checked. I figure if the barrel bag gets lost I can wait for it to be found or replaced.

Good luck to all those trying to fly right now.

Aside from added stress, we were very blessed to be able to find another flight on United to make it home for Christmas after our DL week (to Virginia). Our SW flight on the 23rd was canceled as was the rebooked later flight on the 23rd…and the auto re-booked SW flight on the 26th. We got home on the 24th - and have been watching and reading all the awful news since. Feeling just sick for so many who were not as fortunate.
