Anyone ever use taxis in FL

I am staying off-property. I don't want to rent a car as I am directionally challenged in my home state, I can't imagine trying to get around a strange place. I have a PS @ Chef Mickey's on the evening I arrive. I plan to catch a taxi from my hotel to the resort. I plan to use them at least 4-5 times while I'm there. Any ideas on the average cost of a 3-5 mile ride and availability of taxis.
