Anyone ever use DVC points for a skiing trip?

We're Waiting on ROFR from Disney right now so I'm getting very anxious about booking our 1st vacation as DVC members. We have until Feb to use 178 banked points. If we close on time, it will be pushing it to make it to Disney in October (when we originally wanted to go), but even if we can get a room we will not be able to use 178 points. Just wondering if anyone out there can suggest any good places that accept DVC points for a snow skiing trip. I'm thinking 2 vacations now to use up 178 points...

Trying to book through RCI is not that easy. It can be very difficult to get a ski trip during prime ski time. You often need to turn your points over to RCI more than a year out to get something through RCI. In other words, an RCI member needs to trade their ski resort in for a DVC resort. Then you have to be the DVC member who gets that ski resort.

I would say minimum of 1 yr out to request a for a prime Western/Eastern ski week.

I just exchanged an old Wyndham deposit today for a 2br for President's Day weekend at Shanty Creek in Michigan. Now that isn't a prime area for real skiing(I own a Starwood ski week in Beaver Creek/Vail CO), but it's a short drive for me for a 4 day weekend with a deposit I was afraid would only pull September units in Orlando or Williamsburg.

Now I wouldn't trade my DVC points for any of the MI ski resorts, but I have other options(Wyndham and a fixed week summer week at Boyne, MI) plus with those options I can look at the RCI availbility myself.

We've exchanged into Mountain Run at Boyne twice for Pres weekend and I have an exchange for NYE week at Hemlock at Boyne.

All of those have been made less than a year out.

Last time I poked around out in RCI looking at ski weeks, there were some at a resort in Park City that isn't really near any of the resorts(but they do have a good free bus system that can get you to the 3 main resorts).

We used points a few years ago at Christmas at Keystone through the Concierge Collection. Loved it, and was relatively easy to get.

We also did this. Probably same resort. Worked well, very easy. Only draw back was the number of points per night.

Used points for a trip to Aspen when DVC was connected to II. one phone call a couple of months out for March and it was done. Don't know if RCI has any of those resorts though.

I have never had any luck using my DVC points for a prime Feb-March ski week trade in Utah or Colroado
