Anyone Ever Use CSR's Business Center?

I am trying to convince DH to leave his laptop at home for vacation. I know that CSR has wireless internet service - which is great because he can always check his email on his PDA (which he takes to the parks!!!!). But does anyone know if the business center either rents out computers by the hour and/or laptops in case he needs to type something large? The tiny keyboard that attaches to the PDA is fine for small things but I just can't see using it for a 5 page document. I really want to travel as lightly as possible and I know that DH will be nervous about his laptop when it is not in his possession. As it is, be travels with a cell phone, the PDA, and a Blackberry. I think bringing the laptop too is ridiculous but if I can convince him that the hotel has one (or at least a computer at the Business Center) that he can use IF he really needs it, I might be able to convince him to leave it at home.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

:badpc:

I would call to speak with them. I remember watching the TV loop about the business center and I thought it was more in the line of faxing, printing, copying and mailing/shipping services but I could be wrong.

They have several computers that you can use at CSR. The cost is $40 per hour but you can rent in 15 min. intervals.

Wireless is available but it costs so I would bring the laptop and then you wouldn't have to worry if a computer was available in the business center.

As long as he has a Kensington lock for the laptop he should be fine.

I don't travel anywhere without my laptop, that way I don't have to depend on others computers.

Thanks for the suggestion Buzz. I called and they more or less confirmed what safetymom said.

safetymom - what is a Kensington lock? I know DH won't feel good about leaving the laptop in the room. There was a recent post about someone he had their digital camera stolen out of their room at (I believe) POFQ. If we leave it in the car trunk, he will worry about the heat. If he absolutely insists, maybe Bell Services will hold it for him? He might feel better about that.

We chose CSR mainly because it is the only mod with highspeed internet access. For something like $10.95/day, you can get access. The Business Center is very small - I went there to ship a FedEx package. I would hate to have to walk all the way there, only to be cooped up in that little office, (or worse, have to wait in line) when for much less, I can be in the comfort of my own room. :teeth: $40/hour :faint:

DH travels with his laptop all the time & has never used a lock. At CSR, we just left it hooked up the entire time & paid for internet access everyday we were there.

There is a little slot somewhere on the sides of your laptop. Kensington holds a patent for that slot. But anyway the lock looks like a bicycle lock. It has the lock on one end, a loop on the other. You loop it around something in the room, the bed frame, the table and attach the other end to the laptop. Just so you loop it around something a thief can't slip it off.

I use one all the time when I do demonstrations on the road.

If you go to CompUSA, Best Buy they will be able to show you the lock.

Thanks, SafetyMom. If he absolutely insists on bringing the laptop (as opposed to relaxing on vacation), I will make him go buy one.
