Anyone ever stayed at Swan/Dolphin?

OOh,I'm going to the Dolphin in Jan and LOOOOVE grilled cheese, where did they have a great one?

I'm sure it was at Tubbi's. This is dd's favorite restaurant at WDW! They make a great grilled cheese--and you get three halves (does that make sense? they cut each sandwich in half so it's really like getting a sandwich and a half!) DD loved it so much and was really disappointed on our last day that we were there too early. A manager overheard us talking and whipped one up for her. :teeth: The folks at Tubbi's are really wonderful--after my first day, they called me by name every morning.

So which would you guys say is better for couples, the Swan or the Dolphin?

The Swan, IMHO! It's quieter, smaller and more romantic! :sunny:

Yes, definately the Swan. I also prefer it with the kids because it calms them down as they're walking to the room and there ready to go to sleep faster. I also stay at Pop alot, because of the price and because the kids love it, but the rooms at the Swan are larger, more comfortable and quiet.

Alright! The Swan it is!!! Thank you everyone for your great input and for making my decision so easy.

one thing to note down for the arrival planning.

currently Swan/Dolphin doesn't seem to have the Magical Express transportation from the airport as they do at Disney resorts. so if you're flying in, you'll need to arrange your own transportation to the Swan. many options listed on their website.

We might room at the Swan and put the in-laws at the Dolphin :teeth:

Groom, You've got the right idea with your last thought! hahahaha That's what I'm going to do! Maybe even put them clear on the other side of the park!!!! We are flying in and we're going to rent a limo to bring us from the airport to the hotel, and then from our hotel back to the airport. That will be costly though. Oh well.

The Swan can make arrangements for a limo to pick you up at the airport and bring you back to the airport. I have them do it for me every year and they are great. All they need from you are your flight numbers. For me, my DH and 2 teenage sons it was $60 one way for a Town Car. Just contact the transportation department directly at the Swan to get a quote.

A town car is what we want. I'll have to ask them to do it. Do you like the swan?

What are the pools like at these two hotels please?

The pools are great. Actually, my favorite on property. It has a great waterfall that is so relaxing to stand under.

Absolutely loved it. As you can see we're going back for a third time. Are you staying concierge? I ask because if you are Thabo and Maria in the club lounge are wonderful. I looked forward to seeing them everyday. They are so nice. The staff at the Swan are very nice and if you are staying concierge they will make all dining arrangements for you and take care of any needs you have.

As far as your car pickup, just call the Swan direct and ask for the transportation department and they will take care of everything for you.

We have stayed at both. The beds are better at the Swan. I prefer the Swan because of the proximity to the Studios and Epcot. On the other hand, if you like MK there is no substituting walking there. There is also the feeling at the Contemporary that you are in the middle of it all.

Hmmm ... hard choice.

where/who can we book Swan rooms through and take advantage of entertainment book discount AND, AND be able to request a Epcot view for the fireworks?

Or is there another strategy to book that room?

btw entertainment book and AAA discount seems to be the same, saves us about $40 per nite! :goodvibes

To book the Swan, you can call directly. I would also recommend Tiffany Town Car for a car service. It may be cheaper than booking it through the Swan.

Sorry I'm a little late replying, I've been exhausted since I've been home!

I got the grilled cheese at Tubbi's at the dolphin- they're open 24hrs (yay!) It was one and a half sandwiches- (a weird amount, but yummy!) plus fries for like $5.50.

We're a family of Dolphin/Swan lovers!

The location, amentities, and those heavenly beds are just a few of the reasons we keep returning.

Our last stay was in a 2BR Executive Suite at the Dolphin and it couldn't have been any nicer! We felt like we had one whole wing of the hotel to ourselves! Our upcoming stay in February we're at the Swan 'cause rooms were limited at the Dolphin due to some kind of convention.
