This is our 1st onsite trip (2 families total)
We are on a budget so we booked standard rooms at All Star Movies.
I understand that the only buildings that are not "preferred rooms" are the Love Bug and Mighty Ducks buildings.

Are these buildings fun too??
Any tips for using the bus system?
(I think I read somewhere that it would be closer for us to use the All-Star Music Bus than the Movies bus due to the location of the buildings)

Thanks for your feedback and tips!!!!

Hi!

I have stayed in both

All Star Movies Mighty Ducks building is a bit from the main Movies building but the small pool is right there (and we really liked it). Also we often used the Music buses and food court due to their proximity.

In January we stayed and Love Bug and I was fully prepared not to really like it but it was just fine - it was quiet out there and very nice for our two families. There is a bit of a walk to the Main building but it was ok.

stayed in Love Bug and it was very quiet and a little bit further than i wanted to be, but not too much.

Keep the info coming if you have some...
I really apreciate it!

We stayed in the love Bug section on our past trip in March and loved it! Yes it is a good walk from the main building. We had our own car that we used so this building was perfect for us since our room was very close to the parking lot. Plus it was great to look at the different buildings on our walk.
When we go back in 2008 I plan on asking for the same section if we decide to stay at ASMo.

First return to Value in a long while. Was expecting to not enjoy but we had a great time there. I would go back in a minute and would request Mighty Ducks (not for the theme) but for all else.

1) Had our own pool that was always empty
2) Laundry right there at pool
3) Was quiet
4) Right across road from ASMu so it was easy to go to either bus or food court
5) Only a couple minute walk to main building/pool (even though not preferred)
6) At that time rooms had just been renovated
7) Car to room was very close
8) Even though we faced parking, very unaware of it, well landscaped

We stayed at ASMo once in the Mighty Ducks section. We used the food court and bus at ASMu a few times. It seemed closer to us than the Movies stuff. We didn't mind it. If we were waiting for a bus back to the resort, we would take whatever one came first.

We stayed in the Mighty Ducks wing of ASMo and we loved it. It was not our first choice by any means, but as luck would have it, it was absolutely what we wanted! (We just didn't know it yet!) It is a walk to the food court (maybe a five minute walK?) All and all, nothing that anyone can't handle. (You do walk about 500 miles in the parks right?) The thing that we liked the most was the little pool that was there. It is the only section of ASMo that has a "quiet" pool. It is where my kids and I were at most of the time when we were at the resort.

I think you'll like whatever section you are in at ASMo. I don't think you can go wrong!

Have Fun!

8 days till leaving for WDW! :cool1:

I feel better about staying in a non-preferred room now!
This is our 1st onsite trip and we stayed at budget off-site hotels in the past, so this resort will most likely feel like a luxury resort to us!

Thanks again!!!!

Did you know if you count all of the Dalmatians (the icons plus the puppies on the buildings) you will come up with 101 Dalmatians?
Now how cool is that?

That is one of my favorite WDW trivia facts. I love the way Disney pays attention to details!
---------------------------------------

I love The All Star Resorts.

I am 56 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.

Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.

Here is the map of All Movies.

The Fantasia Buildings ,toy story buildings ,and 101 Dalmatians buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay.
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland.
All Star Movies has a Fantasia themed children's pool area.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The pools at The All Stars are very kid friendly.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

Here are a few pool photos.

All Star Movies Mickey Pool.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and last fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have a great time at Disney wherever you choose to stay!

For all these reasons, I just booked the Mighty Ducks Section at ASMo!! This will also be our first time there. My boys are sooo excited!! Happy Planning!! :thumbsup2

We stayed in the Love Bug section. I will say that it was a long walk at 10pm, LOL. The rooms were nice and clean. DD enjoyed the water fountain, and I liked the photo ops that were available on the trek from there to the food court.

This is a great thread for us. We stayed in ASMo last year in the Toy Story section and loved it. In January we are headed back and have requested the Love Bug. Yes, we are the mercy of our children, but we're good sports. Our boys are OBSESSED with Herbie. They kept asking me what Nirish Coffee was after watching one of the old Herbies. I finally figured out they were talking about Irish Coffee...the bad guy pours it in Herbie's tank and it make him crazy.
:rotfl: I'm glad to hear others liked that building as we knew it was a hike to the food court in comparison to Toy Story. Can't wait! :yay:

We stayed in the Love Bug section May 2005. My DS (4) at the time loved it. He really enjoyed the "Play Fountain" area with Herbie. This was right outside our room. He had more fun at the hotel then he did at the parks. I had to pribe him with swords to get him out of the hotel. We ended up coming home with 5 swords for a 4 day stay. The photo ops, pools, and playground make this resort great for kids. I hope you enjoy your stay.

I agree with HopperFan. We enjoyed the Mighty Ducks. Pool never seemed to have many people.

DH and I stayed in the mighty Duck section on our first trip in 1999. It was a little hike to the main building, but we did not mind. I was not thrilled with the theming of the section, but that is a personal thing. We were on our honeymoon and that is what we could afford at the time. Overall we were happy with the trip, the room was quite and clean, and to be honest it was our first trip to Disney for both of us, and we were hardly there.

We stayed in the Mighty Ducks section last May/June and it was great having the MD pool right there!! It was a bit of a haul to the food court but not bad at all and you got to enjoy viewing the Dalmations along the way. And my teenage daughter grew up loving the MD movies and was tickled to see Goofy w/ 00 on his jersey, that was her favorite Ducks player's number :)

My DF and I stayed in a Mighty Ducks room back in 2002 and we loved it. Especially since we were in college with no kids. There was hardly anyone at the pool and it was so quiet. The only time it was ever noisy was when we walked by the dalmations building and when we were in the food court. The one night we were really tired from the parks we had pizza delivered to the room...so that's always something to consider too. Something really crazy that we loved was since we were in a room with a king size bed it ended up being built with handicapped accessories. So the shower was huge and had a seat (great for shaving legs ;) ) I'm not sure if many people know or enjoy that as much as we did. I think I read somewhere that all rooms with just a king-size bed in the value resorts have been made with handicapped accessories.

Hope you have fun on your trip! :sunny:
