I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm trying to find some personal experience from anyone that's ever visited the Massanutten Resort in Virginia.

We're looking at picking up a week over Christmas through RCI and there seems to be a lot to do but everything seems to come with a cost.

Any experience/recommendations?

Thanks

I have been there for last March break. Make sure which part of resort you are going, there are some old(er) parts that need updating. In area that we stayed in resort (bordering golf course, far away from ski slopes) rooms are unbelievably spacious, everything is new, working fine, washer drier is in hallway (one pair per 4 rooms). Jacuzzi in main bathroom is soooo big, my kids were persuaded it was a pool. It is truly 4-person jacuzzi, a think you can fit a minivan in there.

One annoyance: the floors are paper thin (yes, floors), so our kids skipping over it were creating huge ruckus for people bellow.
Ski slopes are adequate (have not tried them, it melted by the time we got there), but ski passes are additional. Water park is nice not overly crowded during work days, but again, admission is additional. Go carts are probably going to be closed on Christmas, same as mini-golf, they are usual run-of-the mill variety. There is farmers market across the road from resort entrance, and good-priced Target and big supermarket 10 minute drive down the road. Shops in resort are hugely overpriced, so it is gas station/convenience store at the entrance. Be aware the resort is VERY spread out, you will need a car from your room/villa to anywhere else within resort.
For money (next to nothing) it was excellent resort, especially if you get into new block - the rooms are amazing, the views are breathtaking. I'm going now to Wyndham Bonnet Creek next week, and I'm slightly disappointed that the apartments are tiny compared to Masanutten. Just make sure you account for additional ski/water activities you plan.

Thankls for the response. I am a little worried of feeling like I am being nickeled and dimed the entire vacation.

We really enjoyed the rooms at WBC when we were there in August, but the kitchen was so small there was no cupboards to put actual food in. They were full of dishes and pots and pans.

Enjoy it though.
