Anyone ever "Sneak" Into SAB?

Haven't done it. Don't know how I would explain it to my kids. They know you aren't supposed to pool hop there, so when we want to swim at SAB we book at BCV, end of story. Otherwise, we are telling them it's ok to lie, and I'm not real comfortable with that. Had a friend, who also owns DVC ask about this very thing the other day. She was side stepping all around the topic without coming out and saying that she wanted to just go and swim without staying there. I told her the same thing.

its a pool for goodness sake can it be that great!!!

We did it back when pool hoping was okay for every Disney resort. It was nice, as I recall.
But, in the immortal words of Richard Nixon, "We could do it, that's for sure. But it would be wrong."

I have never done it and would never have the nerve to do it. I guarantee if people are doing it they won't be posting on this thread.

I asked a question recently that was not even a big deal IMO and people said no, no, no on the thread but my PM's said yes, yes, yes:laughing:

I have a confession......

back in 2003...pre-dis for me....it was our wedding week...the night of our wedding, DS9 stayed with friends at the BC....and DD6 was with SIL at AKL....so the next day we cabbed it to both resorts to pick up the kids!

I did NOT know the pool rules at AKL.....Dh went swimming with his DN and dd6....and then at BC.....DD6 went swimming with friend.

there i said it...finally....feel so relieved!

We would never even do this now....please forgive us:)

i think your penance should be having to stand perfectly still in the most packed section of SAB from open to close.
in sweats.
without earplugs.
or sunscreen.
on july 4th.

;)

No, we have never sneaked into SAB.

We went for Star Wars Weekend last year for the first time. Although we are BWV owners, I specifically booked at BCV so my teenage boys could swim in SAB. Guess what? They never set foot in the pool the entire weekend. Go figure.:confused3

We did.

We went to WDW for Spring Break one year - maybe two years ago - and our friends were staying at BCV. We were at VWL. We went over to SAB and the mom showed her room ID and got 4 towels and 4 wristbands for herself, her daughter, me, and my daughter. The man at the towel stand didn't ask for my room key - he just gave my friend the 4 towels, if I remember correctly. I might have said, "Oh, I don't need one - I'm not going to swim."

My daughter swam with her friend for about an hour or so, and then we left.

Funny, I'm such a rule follower and I usually get all worked up about mugs, etc. but at the time I was more interested in my daughter being able to swim with her friend. So there - my life of crime!!

While staying at BCV last year, I was sitting on a lounge chair next to a woman who was on the phone with a friend or relative and she was stating how she was staying at BW and just walked in the gate near the exit for the slide ....she was taking up 3 lounges....I really wanted to go and talk to the CM who was at the "main" entrance to the pool and ask why this woman and her three kids didn't have bracelets on....but I let it go as the pool area was not that crowded that day.
Yep, I had the exact same experience. I was staying at BCV, and there were a ton of people coming in the entrance/exit by the slide. No wristbands on them. I must have seen 30 people, in that pool, that day with no wristbands. It really irked me. There were people, sprawled out, over 4-5 chaises and a table or two, with not a wristband in sight! Had to be 6-7 kids in that one group. Never saw a lifeguard question them, or anybody else about no wristbands.
I will say that while I liked BCV's well enough, the pool area wasn't great enough to make me 'have to' go back. When they start clamping down on the wristband violators, maybe I'll go back, but I'm not fighting with anyone in order to sit close to the pool area, rather than way the heck back in the shrubbery!

It didn't do anything for me or my 11 yr old son, but DH and the 6yr old:cloud9: SAB. 6yr olds love grabbing some of the sand bottom and throwing it, so myself and eldest ended up with sand in our hair. DH doesn't need to worry since he shaves his head.

DH loves BCV, after one stay. I am of course insane because I prefer VWL over BCV. :rotfl2:

What a tease. With that lead up, I thought you were confess something really interesting like the 3am fence-hopping skinnydip. Now THAT would be something to confess.

Although I could see it becoming a Clark Griswald moment with all those late night peeping toms on their balconies snapping photos with a telephoto lense.

:rotfl: Your scenario it much more interesting than my confessions:rotfl: Since my intent wasn't to 'sneak' in, my guilt is quickly vanishing now....this thread has been a revelation :lmao: can you tell my religion....relevation...guilt...lol

great idea....:lmao: however, we are in WDW in june....too bad!

when we stayed at yC last labor day.....the tuesday after......everyone seemed to have cleared out of BC as well....I swear, it seemd that Dh and i and dd had SAB to ourselves that morning:goodvibes

If we could arrive the Tuesday after Labor Day for trips, that would be ideal!

SAB can get so crowded it's lost it's thrill for us. We usually just take a quick dip, get our drinks at Hurricane Hannah's and head for the quiet pool! And to think I added on at BCV just for the pool.

My DD and I were there 2 summers ago and stayed at BCV for SAB. We went down to the pool and walked around to find chairs. It was so crowded you couldn't even move. We were just like the pp, went to the quiet pool, where it was us and a couple of other people. It is a great pool, but it is not worth the hassle. I had a different opinion when my kids were smaller and loved to play on the sand bar.

Here's a question for you: how about early mornings? Are they crowded? What time does the pool open up? I'm going to be at BWV in early June and I have a triathlon a few weekends later. I'd love to head over to SAB and swim agains the current for 45 or so minutes. Possible?

I think it opens at 10. I always go for a quick 20 minutes before we check out.

Bobbi:goodvibes

as a result of this thread they'll probably have 2 CMs checking id now:lmao:

we're chicken, not about to chance getting the boot:rolleyes1

it is a great pool though:thumbsup2

perhaps they'll start selling day passes ala Atlantis:laughing:

Wristbands? What wristbands?:rotfl: The only time I ever got a wristband was the one time I went to a CM and asked. Otherwise, I've never worn a wristband, never been questioned (but had my BCV room key if anyone had asked). Has anyone without a wristband ever been questioned? If so, I wonder if it's only if you're actually in the water. I often just lie on a chaise and read a book, or walk in the sandy area with my bare toes. Maybe they only question actual swimmers?
