Anyone ever shocked their TV with static electricity?

 My dad got up to change the input on our tv and shocked it with his finger/got a shock, and now it just cycles through all the inputs. Ive tried everything it seems; unplugged it and replugged it in, etc. But the only info online I can find is to leave it unplugged for at least 8 hours so the charge can go away. If I could get it to change to a channel I'm sure it would work fine, but it's so busy cycling through the inputs that overrides everything.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them and fixed it, or if I am going to have to buy a new 42inch LCD for the livingroom. :headache:

Thanks!

Yup, totally blew out the computer board on our tv touching it wearing my fuzzy crocs.

Hope you can get yours working soon!

Yes, I fried our guest room tv. Now, you can't turn it on and off with the remote or button on the tv - only if you plug it in. And now it only has one volume setting.
