With a recent thread about screen protectors (and with me going to Disney 3 weeks from today) I've been trying to quickly find a solution. More times than not I keep my camera around my neck or in my slingbag, but I think I would feel better knowing I have the extra protection. The only other thing I've been able to find is the glass/crystal/whatever that goes over my LCD, but it's being airmailed from China (eBay) and could take two weeks to get here ONCE IT'S SHIPPED. :confused3

i have one and imo it's more of a pain than a help. i got it to help see the lcd in brighter light and it may help a tiny bit with that but you have to flip it up to read the histogram and that annoyed me. i took it off and don't even use it now. someone used to sell ( i thought it was delkin as well) plastic stick on screen protectors if you are just worried about scratches although i haven't had a problem with that.

Wal mart sells them http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5623431

I was thinking about getting one. I have the hard plastic clip on screen that came with the D200 as LCD protection. I'll leave it on all the time at WDW. I could use it for reviewing in bright light. I've messed up a lot of shots by not being able to see the LCD screen in bright light. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it);)
My family keeps walking when I turn turtle and pull a shirt, (without exposing my superstructure) towel anything over my head to block the light. I'd prefer a more traditional means of blocking the light. Does it help with that?

I agree with jann1033 , I had one for my 7d, and it was more of a pain than it was worth..

I had the pro model that was made specifically for my camera so it snapped on rather than sticking on, the first p[roblem I had was the eyepiece kept popping off, and it was a pain to close it to take a picture, then open it to check the picture...

now on the flip side, you can remove the hood part and leave the other piece on as a screen protector..

I haven't even considered getting one for my a700s

No experience with the flip-up protectors, but I ordered the GGS thin glass one you saw in my thread (specifically sized for my A700 rather than a generic 3" one) from a Chinese Ebay seller with Buy It Now and it arrived in a week and a half.

Admittedly the thin glass protector probably broke with less force than it would take to break the screen, but still I'd rather sacrifice a $9 protector than risk a broken, or even scratched, screen... and the multilayer glass is so much better than plastic for seeing the LCD, you hardly know it is there.

You can get glass protectors more locally... Giottos brand, they have 6 and 12 layer versions. The 12 layer are VERY nice, but pretty expensive for what they are.

I know that the replacement GLASS screen for my Canon costs $10(delivered). If I could find a screen protector for $2 that is more durable than the screen it is trying to protect, and it does not affect visibility I might consider getting one.
