I was considering ordering the Lego Brickmaster club for DS8 for Xmas? We are already members of the regular club where you get a magazine but the Brickmaster club you get 6 lego sets per year along with the magazine. Are the sets worth it? Are they ok for an 8 yr old? Any input is greatly appreciated.

My son had it for a year he loved getting sets you cant get unless you have it .Its nice i need to get it again you get a free Legoland ticket with it for a child ,:cool1::cool1:

Yes...I'd be interested in the type of sets, too. Would a girl who is into Lego's be excited about the magazine and sets they send?

My son has had this for the last two year. He loves it.

it is every other month which can seem like forever to a 9 year old.

The sets are small. Like maybe the sets you would by for 5-7 in the store.

Not sure about a girl. It would depend. He has gotten star wars, bionicles, lego city and others. So it depends on how girly the girl is.

He did say that this year he does not want it. I think 2 years has been enough for him.

we started getting this for DS when he was 8. It was great. I would think even at 6 if they were really into legos it would be great.

He is 10 now and while he really loves legos still I think he is aging out. He no longer wants it, but wanted to make sure he still got the catlogue with the prices.

Thanks...I think we'll pass. It's for my niece, and I don't have a strong handle on what types of sets she enjoys.

Is there any way to get a deal on it or are you only able to get it through lego at $39.99?

My son just turned 11 and he wanted it again. He likes it mostly for the Star Wars sets that you get. He would love it if every month was a Star Wars one! They are sets you just can't buy.

I don't think a girl would like it very much unless she really loves Star Wars because at least 3 a year have been those.

Funny , I do not remember a single star Wars set:confused3

DS's grandparents subscribed him to the brickmaster club for Christmas the year he turned 8 (he will be 11 this December). He really enjoyed it.

I can't remember getting too many Star Wars sets either and I'm not so sure that it's been worth the $40 we spent. They are very small sets and usually something generic-bus, dump truck-stuff like that. I don't think I would purchase it for a little girl-it seems to be mostly "boy stuff".

I just ask my DS and he said he got a truck, Indiana Jones set, Star wars, Bionicle, Star wars, and another Star Wars but he didn't remember if it was between the truck and the Indiana Jones set or where. So out of 6 he got 3 Star wars sets. I have the bags from the last 2 Star Wars sets and the Republic Attack Cruiser was 84 pieces and the Republic Gunship was 94 pieces.
So they aren't real small.

Wow! your son really got all that. Where do I sign up? My son has been asking for years, and I just can't seem to decide if it is worth the $$. Thanks - Great thread!:hippie:

I got this for my son last year for Christmas. Ordered it about now, wrapped the first set and put it under the tree. You get 6 exclusive mini-kits that run about 70-90 pieces. I'd say they are equivalent to about a $6 set from the store. In the past year, I think there were 2-3 Star Wars themed sets, one Bionicle, and a couple of cars/trucks.

Personally, we felt that the price was right on for the kits.

I wouldn't advise if for a girl unless she's a huge Lego fiend, but most Lego-crazy boys that I know would love it!
