Anyone ever NOT gotten a discount code or A/P discount after they are releaseed?

We are tentatively planning our 2nd Family vacation for Dec 4-12, 2004, which is Value Season and from what I understand, a pretty slow time. Have any of you NOT been able to get a code applied to your reservation during this time of year, booking yourself? I am thinking about using Dreams Unlimited, I've heard that they can most always get the codes applied), but I would just hate to have them go to all the work and then for something to happen that we had to cancel or something. Did that make sense?

For any of you who have been at this time of year, what kind of rates were available. We have only been once (2001) and we stayed at ASMU we would like to move up to the Moderates this time. Thinking POR or POFQ (if they get it opened). Would love to do Contemporary (even just a couple of nights) What kind of rates do they have with discounts? Sorry for all the questions & Thanks in advance. Sandy

We are going 3/12-3/19 and wanted either AP or other discount rates for GF or the Yacht and Beach Club. While there were discounts for the Poly, AKL, the Contemporary and WL, alas, we were not able to get our choices. So, we will go using the AAA rate (and paying a ridiculous rate) but heck..it WDW!!!

Many times. While it may seem on these forums that the success rate is high for getting a discount rate that is not always the case.

It will depend on many factors including where you want to stay. Sometimes when discounts are released they sell out within minutes.

While Dreams is very good at securing discounts I am sure they will tell you it is never a guarantee.

As to the time frame you are going it is a slow time for the parks which does not mean a direct correlation to low occupancy rates at the resorts. In fact many go at that time due to the Christmas decorations and low crowds at the parks making many resorts sell out.

I had WL booked for my upcoming trip. I could not get an AP rate for the days I had booked. Although I read other here got them. Changed my resort to AKL and got the AP.

I'm hoping to get the AP at WL in December.

Yes, there's been times that we weren't able to get the AP rates!

Sometimes we've had to go with AAA or the now defunct DC.
But, 30-45% is alot more than 10%!:(

I'm one of those persistant callers.
Finally was able to get AP rate for CR Tower, never have been able to get that one! And that was hours after the AP rates were released.

And just an hour ago, I called and was able to get YC concierge at AP rate during Spring Break!

So, we're going to split our trip....but, boy, do we save the money!

And with AP....those concierge rooms are more affordable for us!:teeth:
(Worth every extra dollar!)

So, do you think it would be in my best interest to go through Dreams? I realize they cannot "promise" but from what I've reaad, they have the best chance of getting the discounts. Thanks for your help! Sandy

Sandy..I think you,ve got a pretty good chance of getting the rates on your own especially at that time of year. If you go to www.mousesavers.com and click on the annual pass rates they still have Jan.'s Value season rates posted and you can get an idea of how great the discounts are. Also keep checking here and mousesavers for a tentative day when they think the rates will come out. If you call 1st thing in the a.m. your chances are even better!

It helps if you are flexable with your choice of resorts/dates. :D

It also helps to keep calling back. In December when the AP rates were released for value season, I called the same day and got POR at the AP rate. I then had to cancel my reservation because my son and daughter-in-law didn't think they could go.

Just last week, the vacation was back on and I called thinking it would be impossible to get the AP rate at that late date - our vacation is February 6 -11. I have POR at $88 a night and that includes tax. I was thrilled.

Like other posters have said, nothing is guaranteed, but I wouldn't be too discouraged. My personal experience is that I've always gotten some type of discount for my Disney trips. Good luck.

8/28/03 is when the Dec AP rates came out last year. I marked it down so we would remember for this year.

My DH has always been successful in getting the AP rates. But he calls the day they come out and works it. Sometimes he has to call back a few times that entire week to get the exact trip we plan for.

For example, last year we wanted to split our stay. AKL Concierge and GF. In order to capitalize on the rates we had to stay 3 nights at the AKL instead of 2, but that was our only adjustment.

We went thru a travel agent we found on another board for the first time to see if they made it easier, but they did not. They could never secure the AP though they said they tried several times.

So - we are back to doing this on our own. For now - we are booked Dec 3-9 at the CT Club with a AAA discount which at least is something.

It has been a few trips since we stayed there and we miss it. We think the Cont is the easiest to get around from!

I know this is all jumbled - but I copied it from the wonderful Mousesavers and saved it on my computer so that we would remember what the rates were last year. MARY ROCKS!

>>>WDW Annual Passholders can ask for Code ### and get special discounted rates at select Walt Disney World resorts for check-ins 10/2/03-11/24/03 and 11/28/03-12/26/03. Discounts range from approximately 30-45% off regular rack rates. Availability seems to be very limited, particularly for October -- you may need to be flexible about dates and/or resorts to take advantage of these rates. Note that these dates include Value, Regular and Holiday seasons, so rates for the same hotel will vary widely. Some reported rates:
· All Stars - $49 standard (Value and Holiday season), $69 standard (Regular season)
· Moderates - $79 standard (Value season), $89 king (Value season), $99 standard (Regular season), $109 king (Regular season), $140 Coronado junior suite (Regular season)
· Animal Kingdom Lodge - $109 standard (Value and Holiday season), $129 standard (Regular season), $149 pool view (Value season), $165 pool view (Regular season), $154 savannah view (Value and Holiday season), $179 savannah view (Regular season), $209 deluxe savannah view (Value season), $249 concierge (Value season)
· Wilderness Lodge - $109 standard (Value season), $125 woods view (Value and Holiday season), $140 courtyard view (Value and Holiday season), $165 courtyard view (Regular season), $219 concierge (Value season), $259 honeymoon room (Regular season)
· Ft. Wilderness Cabin - $134 (Value season)
· Contemporary - $229 tower (Value season), $249 tower (Regular season)
· Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club - $174 standard (Value season), $209 water view (Value season), $294 concierge (Regular season)
· Polynesian - $170 garden view (Value season), $204 garden view (Regular season), $235 garden view concierge (Value season), $285 lagoon view concierge (Value season)
· Grand Floridian - $199 garden view (Value season), $239 lagoon view (Value season)

As others have said if you are flexable you will get a room discount.:D

The only time I did not get some kind of discount in over 30 visits to WDW is this past trip 12-28-1/5. I did split the reservations so that I got a lower rate for 1/1-1/5.

I could have gotten a discount on that trip if I was 1. Willing to move from AS Movies to Sports or Music (the rate would have dropped from $77-49) and 2. If I could have rearranged my non-refundable air and checked in on the 26th. That rate would have been $49 for the whole trip rather than $114 and $77 but changing air for 3 people would have cost more than the savings.

In early Sept. the AP rates did not apply so I got AAA which saved 20%.

Once I had to stay at Music as the AP was not available for Movies.

Be flexable and save big bucks.

Sandy~

We took our very first trip to Disney Dec. 12-20, 2002. It was also the value season and the crowds were not bad at all. Being new at the whole "Disney Adventure" I decided to keep watch on the mousesavers.com site for the discount codes. Once released I called and saved tons of money! We ended up staying at the Polynesian for somewhere around $120 a night!

Needless to say, we are planning to return to Disney the beginning on 2005! I am thinking of trying AKL and pray they will release some sort of discount code for that.

Good luck, have a wonderful trip.
