Anyone ever had a blood clot?

U/s techs can't say, but there are normally signs; when they found mine I knew something was up when they walked me into the exam room but refused to allow me to walk back out - they brought me a wheelchair. My dr wasn't there, but they got her on the phone while I was waiting. Anyway, I know waiting is tough, but I'd take it as a good sign that they let you leave. ;-)

I agree!

My cousin thought she had a clot and the sonographer couldn't say either but she did tell her that if it was a big deal, they wouldn't be letting her leave.

I've had several DVTs and PEs. I've been in ICU twice. I'm on coumadin for life now.

The first time I got a DVT was shortly after the birth of my first child. It felt like a terrible leg cramp, but soon turned to stiffening and swelling. My leg became so swelled that I have permanent nerve damage in my left leg. It is almost twice the size of my right. I only wear pants now. (even in WDW heat!)

The worst pain though was the clots in my lungs. The leg clot breaks off and travels to the lungs. That is what happened in my first PE. The pain is incredible and very scary. The heaviness on the chest is almost unbearable.

It's good that you get it checked out. Never wait, if you suspect a clot. I went to the ER last year because I thought I had another PE, even on the coumadin. It turned out to be pnemonia.

Let us know what the doctor tells you. Clots below the knee usually result in bedrest, heat, and leg elevation. They would have hospitalized you if it were deep in the veins in your thigh or torso.

Thanks for all the replies. Some of you have some really scary stories to tell but it's good that you're here to tell them!

The good news is that I don't have any clots in my leg. I still don't know why my leg hurts but it could be a pulled muscle or tendon. My OB/GYN said to follow up with my regular doctor if I still have pain in a week or so. I'm glad I had it checked out since I feel very relieved now.

Thanks again for the replies! :)

I've been having pain in my calf for the last week or so. I saw my OB/GYN today for a check-up and I mentioned it to her. She is sending me for an ultrasound tomorrow to rule out a blood clot.

All I have is pain. It's worse in one spot but sometimes other areas of my leg hurt, too. I don't have any swelling, redness or warm spots. .

This sounds like it could be a lumbar disc problem, or when I tore the miniscus in my knee I also had calf pain.

I would have a lumbar and knee MRI too. the L-5 never I think it was gave me pain in my calf, or was it the L4, I have both compressed and bulged. When a nerve is compressed in the spine as it travels down the leg to the foot it has pain. When using the knee hinge, it made my calf pain worse..

Years before when I tore the miniscus I had the calf pain too.
Hope it resloves.
Sometime with Physical therapy you can get the tummy muscles stronger and that helps the pain. My mother swore by Glucosin chondriton (sp).

I hope it is just a strain and none of any problems you do not need.
