Just wondering if anyone has ever had any luck asking for an AP rate when checking in to their resort. We will be at WL Dec. 10-13 and I have been calling ever since the codes first came out with no luck. I do have the AAA rate, but AP rates are better. I know it's not guaranteed, but should I even bother to ask?

Closest thing we got to it, was being VERY unhappy checking into swan after the poly for 2nd leg of our trip (lots of room issues, and they could not move us, big convention) I called CRO on phone and asked, ANY thing open for availablity right now with an ap rate, in deluxe and he gave me 2 different options, for our time frame. (we choose the BC). So sometimes if your flexible you might be able to get something, but if you really are set on the WL probably not. I also think you need to talk to CRO for the rate. I would ask them that day even, and if you want to ask at the desk it would not hurt. I've also heard of rates like "manager's special" when they are trying to sell out. But the WL is probably sold out during the christmas holidays decorations so I don't think your going to get to far. Good luck!

You can ask, but from what I've heard, the front desk has to charge you rack rate. There's nothing that they can do to get you any kind of coded special.

If you're at the front desk, use your cell phone (or their phone, since it's a local call), and call the Disney Reservation Center. There may be AP rates available. They'd book you, and you'd then check in as normal.

I've added days after check-in at an AP rate. Had to go through CRO instead of the front desk. At initial check-in, though, I think it's highly unlikely that you will be charged anything other than what's in the computer.

I would keep calling until time for you to leave for your trip. I never consider our resort plans final until we leave home -- I've switched resorts with less than a week to go a couple times.

DH has gotten AP rates for a resort while we were staying at another resort and watching to change the split stay resort. However you do need to go thru CRO for that and not the front desk.

Not to mention it's only good if they have AP rate rooms available at the resort of your choice.
