Anyone ever gone with a performance group? I have a dilemma.

DD was supposed to go to Disney in a few months to perform with her dance group. Now it's looking as if we're not going to be able to go. The rest of the group will go as planned - just not us. :( Problem is, we've already paid the dance teacher for the park passes that include a discount and certain stipulations about when they can be used and stuff. I've called the Disney performance program folks and they were very nice but basically said that I'll have to get the dance teacher to find out what our options are regarding a refund or using the tickets. I haven't gotten a response from her yet but thought it might be worth a shot to ask here. Has anyone else had this happen? Or has anyone gone with a dance group and can tell me what the rules are regarding those park passes? We are NOT looking to do anything unethical - we'd just like to be able to either get our money back or get some park passes we can use later. If that requires paying the difference between our discounted tickets and the regular price of a ticket, we are good with that. We just hate to see several hundred dollars go down the drain.

When I purchased discounted tickets for a performance group a few years ago they were not refundable. Also all tickets, even those that were not used for entry, I was told, would expire 14 days from the day the first ticket was used. They also had to be activated prior to a certain date as well. When I purchased the tickets they asked when we were coming and they had an expiration date on them of the end of the month following travel. They said this was just in case plans had to change by a few days.

Thank you so much for the information. Can you elaborate a little on what you mean by "they had to be activated prior to a certain date"? Does that mean that they had to be used for park entrance by a certain date or is this something that only the dance teacher would have control over?

They had to be used for entry by a certain date. In our case they had to be used for the first entry no later than June 30 and then expired 14 days after the first use. We were coming in mid May so they gave us to the end of the following month to get the first use. But the way I understood it was that even if the first day was on June 29 they would not be valid after the 30th although we had 4 day tickets. When I purchased I got to pick the dates but it had to be the same for all the tickets. I am sure that they do this to keep people from buying extra discounted tickets for later dates.

Thank you. Sounds like we might be able to go say a week after the rest of the team and still be able to use the tickets. The information I received when I called the performance program folks indicated that the tickets would expire 7 days after the team performs. But if we have 2 weeks instead of 7 days, that would give us a little more flexibility. That would be helpful.
