For some people FP+ is great. For others, it sucks.
We fall into the it sucks camp, I've been going to WDW since 1980. I remember no fast pass, fast pass, fp/fp+ and now fp+. FP+ was/is a step backward... for my family. I'll leave it at that.
Our upcoming trip is at 4-5 crowd levels but we aren't expecting much, it was a spur of the moment type of thing by our usual standards. Hopefully the crowd levels keep the standby lines at minimums for non headliners like it was prior to fp+. We shall see.
In any case, I am (or was) a huge WDW fan and have been pretty much all my life. I'm not to proud / ignorant / blind / oblivious to call things as I see them and with the downfall of Disney dining quality and now this, it's simply not something I'm that into anymore. I've got 8 and 10 y/o daughters (at the youngest age) which is what's swung me on this trip but honestly, it is what it is.
The days of dropping 10k+ on a trip are over. Disney will be lucky to see 5k out of us on this trip and that's only because the room deal was good enough to make staying off property less attractive this time. For some reason our usual off property spots are still at peak rates for the next several week. Odd.
Anyway, thanks for the well wishes. I'm not expecting much based on our previous FP+ experience (which led to the cancellation I note in the sig, which needs updating again) so I shouldn't be disappointed.
I'm one of the few people who look at these changes from both sides and give an unbiased view of the changes so my after action trip report is something quite a few people will be looking forward to. I'll be putting it up a week or so after I get back.
