Last month I noticed a ring on the back of my left shoulder. It's not itchy. It's not raised or bumpy. It's a perfect circle of darker skin.

It went away in a day, but now it is back. I'm going through everything trying to figure out what was similar this month to last month, but I can't figure it out! I'm getting nervous thinking I have some horrible disease that it manifesting itself as a ring on my skin.

HELP!

I thought ringworm, too, but WebMD says ringworm is very itchy and this isn't itchy. I wish it was itchy then I wouldn't be so worried!

Lyme disease. Get tested. My dd had a rash that sounds just like this. It was a round ring that just looked like a suntan. Over time it spread out more and more kind of getting bigger while the center got bigger and bigger. Lyme disease never occured to me at the time. But 6 mos. later she was very sick, and was eventually diagnosed with lymes. It took me a long time to make the link to the rash.

Actually sometimes the first sign of Lyme Disease is the "bull's eye" rash. This could be a possibility. Here is a link to some pictures: http://www.lymenet.org/picture4.shtml If you think it could be Lyme Disease, call your doctor ASAP to be tested.

Ringworm isn't always itchy. My son who wrestles has had it a couple of times and sometimes didn't know he had it until someone pointed it out. I would definitely get it checked out so it doesn't spread or get worse.

Sounds like a deer tick bite to me also!

I would call the doc.

my dd's rash looked nothing like those pics. It was just like a tan area. In shape it looked like some of those rashes, but it was brown, or sort of darker then her regular skin.

I looked at those photos and read about Lyme Disease on WebMD. My ring is very small - about the size of a dime and, last month, it was gone in a day. WebMD said that the rash usually lasts for weeks and the ring gets bigger and bigger. But, I am making an appointment with my doctor for next week and I'm going to mention Lyme Disease to him just in case.

I live in the woods, so it's better to be safe than sorry!

I have the same thing. Mine is brown, not red. I got it after DD was born. It went away for a while, but came back. It also gets lighter and darker. I am going to doctor next week. I am more worried that is skin cancer. :(

Maybe it's a female hormone thing? Maybe related to my pills or something? I've read that the pill can cause dark skin patches. I just can't remember WHEN last month I got it. That would be OK. I doubt it is skin cancer. Skin cancer doesn't go away and come back, right??

Here's to hoping it's our female hormones! Good luck with your appointment. Mine is on for Tuesday.

Do you have an article of clothing that perhaps has an aluminum ring or something on it? The ring on the strap of a tank top? This could cause a reaction with your skin. A ring on a bra strap?

Nope, nothing like that. I don't use the pill, I have been using the patch, maybe that is it. I'll check the side effects.

you should see your doctor regardless.

i have very fair skin and i got a burn on my shoulders a few years ago and it left a sort of brown splotch on my skin that has never gone away. i don't worry about it, my dermatologist has seen it and said it was normal.

as for lyme disease, i actually got bitten witha lyme infected tick this past fall and i didn't get the "classic" bullseye - just a huge red splotch that expanded in size rapidly. i got put on 3 weeks of antibiotics and i was fine.

I had ringworm once and it was not itchy at all. Only way I knew it was there was because I went to rub the back of my arm and I felt a weird thing and then looked
