DS will celebrate his 10th b-day during our upcoming December trip. We told him that (within reason) he can plan the day and he wants to do the following:
  • Get to AK for EMH, get his button & ride EE.
  • Head to the MK, get his button and ride (something) there.
  • Take the monorail to Epcot, get his button and ride M:S or Test Track.
  • Then head over to MGM, get his button & ride ToT or RnRC.

Anyone else ever went & got a button from each park? Are there are places missing that he can get one? He always wishes other park guests a "Happy Birthday" when he sees their buttons and is excited about the idea of getting them on his special day.

We are going to MVMCP at night so I'm hopeful that we could get all this done quickly. We'll also have a rental so we might just drive to all the parks if that would be easier.

Yep! :thumbsup2 I turned 40 at WDW last Feb. Did almost the same thing you detailed! It was a lot of fun :cool1:

Is DS' birthday the first day of your trip? If not, you might do what we did when we celebrated DD's 7th birthday at WDW. Her birthday was the fourth day of our trip, and she wanted to celebrate that day at MK, so we went to the other 3 parks the preceding days. We asked for the birthday button at each park and then saved them all for her to wear on her special day. If you don't have that many days before the "big day" you won't be able to do that, but if you do it will save you a lot of running around! Happy birthday to your DS - I'm sure he will have a blast!

When my DD, Natalie, came down in '04, she was going to be there for her 24th (she also celebrated her 19th in '99). I was there a few days before her and went to all the parks to get her buttons and give them to her for her day. She wore them all, we had a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Ugh, edited this rather than added a post, LOL.

We were there in July and unforunately AK was out of the birthday ones.

They gave DD a congratulations one instead.

Your plan sounds like fun!

Yep, that is the duplicate, MGM/MK) DtD is different, I was mixed up (not hard for an old guy, LOL)

Where do you pick up the b'day buttons in the parks? I turn 31 on 10/9, and we'll be at Epcot! :dance3:

I wonder if a b'day button will help you get chosen by CM's for million wishes stuff !?!

Does it have to be the exact day of the birthday. We will be celebrating 2 bithdays while we are there. One is the day we get there and the other is a couple of weeks later, but this is their birthday trip. Where to you go to get these?

Last week my BF from SCal went for my 50th B'day, and since hers is a few weeks earlier, (and she is 1 year older... :thumbsup2 ), I made her also get a pin for her self... She was a little hestitant at first. But by day 3, 3rd park, she was the one reminding ME! We had a great time, and was also told that you could get pins at DTD, some of the Resorts, and the Water parks! Not sure if you can, so if anyone has, let us know please.
We also got some perks, which included roses, Happy Birthday tiaras and cupcakes at the GF tea room when we had Grand Tea. Free drink in the World showcase at ECPOT, and at lunch at the Coral Sea our server insisted we have desert and surprised us with 2 deserts, the Pineapple upsidedown cake, ! :cool1: ! yum!, and the Chocolate lava with a butter scotch/carmel center, also excellent! FREE!!! We were sang to, and treated like royalty! It was one of the best visits I have ever had. I also did a lot of eating at different places so that helped to make it special.
My BF was worried since it was not her actually Birthday while we were, but as stated, WDW does not care. It is all part of the magic of Disney. What a great way to enjoy a special day.

Thanks for the quick replies!

To answer the questions---we will be arriving on the 9th, his b-day is on the 11th and he'll be turning 10.

I told him that some people get the buttons on days other than their birthdays (ie when it is really close to the date) but he is a stickler for the rules, part of his autism, and he wants to do it on the day itself.

I thought it would be fun and he is carefully plotting it out so we will have a good time. I figured we would just bop around to the 4 parks, don't know if I will tell him about the DtD one, and then head back for a little nap before our 5 pm ADR at Tony's before the Christmas party.

While I am not expecting any special treatment for him, it would be neat to get a little response out of a CM or a character, especially if he is wearing all 4 to the MVMCP! :)

We did it last year but not all in the same day.

Dd got them all and we put a small premade sticker ( Yeasterday was) the CM's thought it was great.

We are going for her B-day again this year starting the day after her real B-day and will still get the pins as we need an MGM one as I heard it has changed from the same as MK from last year.

But I think in his case he has a very special day planned and is very doable to fit the needs of the day. We have done 3 parks in one day plus a waterpark and did a bunch of stuff. You could easly spend a few hours in each park and be fine.

Also last year at MNSSHP I mentioned it to a CM before the start of the parade at the circle and they made DD stand in the middle of the street and had everyone sing to her.

You can get the buttons at the guest services place in each park. I was there for my 21st b-day and since my actualy b-day was in the middle of the trip I just collected and wore each button as we went to the parks on our normal schedule. By the end of the trip I had them all. Our view was its a birthday trip, not a day of our trip is a birthday so why not wear it the whole trip?

i got 1 from ak on the morning of my 30th,then had breakfast at donalds breakfastosaurus. Then in the afternoon i got the mk one and had dinner at crystal palace. It made my day all the more special that so many cm's wished me a happy birthday and sung to me-i even got cake and cards from the characters!!!

brer rabbit 28-that is an adorable pic in your siggy!

I think he will end up wearing them during the remainder of the trip, but really wants to make his day extra special by doing it all in one day. :)

I didn't realize each park had a different pin. My DD celebrated her 6th b-day at Disney and got a pin when we had breakfast at CRT. We will be there again for her 10th b-day on Halloween. She will be so excited to know there are more pins to collect :sunny:

We were told by the CM when booking, that as long as my DS's birthday landed sometime during the trip he was welcome to celebrate everyday. It's a birthday trip. His 11th will fall on the third day of our trip, which we have planned as a MK day, and I plan on having a cake at CP, but the CM told us to mention everywhere that this is DS,s birthday trip. No need to celebrate only day of. Just thought I'd mention it since it was straight from CM's mouth! Hope your child has a great birthday trip. I think you will be there the same time as us!
