when going to Disney? If so, what is the best way to get from the airport to your resort? Would that even be the next closest airport to MCO? It seems to save money, flying into Tampa. :confused3

I just posted on another thread on this same topic... Yes, flying into Tampa is a very good option. It's about an additional hour drive to Disney area. I believe your only transportation option is rental car. I've also found prices to be lower than MCO sometimes.

The airfare from your city to Tampa can be lower than to Orlando and if you had planned to rent a car anyway then you could save some bucks flying into TPA. Driving time to WDW is less than 90 minutes but it's pretty easy via I-275 and I-4 which is just about 3-lanes or more each way. Tampa airport is also very similar in design to Orlando so it's pretty easy to use.

Orlando International and Orlando Sanford International would be the two closest airports to Disney. Tampa might be the next closest although Daytona Beach and Melbourne might be a bit closer but don't have the low fare airlines that bring down the fares like Tampa would.

I posted about this a week or so ago. Everyone told me it was an easy drive, and an average of 90 minutes to WDW. I know for us coming from CA, it's $150 PER PERSON savings. Buying 5 tickets, that's HUGE. So if the price we see now stays for our dates, that's what we're doing! Good luck!

Ticket to Daytona can be cheaper too. Indeed, it was cheaper than flying to TPA or MCO when I made reservation a couple months ago.

We really love to fly SWA for the flexibility and, when the May dates opened, the fares from Nashville to Tampa were $49 each way vs. $133 each way to Orlando. Because of flight times, we'll actually be getting to WDW earlier than if we'd flown into MCO.

Actually there were ticket at these prices several months since several months ago. I was a day late that cannot get 4 tickets for $79 each way to Orlando from Detroit (there were 2 left). It was $49 each way from other Southern cities at that time. It seems it is not the price change, it is just the availability of the cheaper ticket. On the other hand, it is a good sign that the flight is far from fully booked.:thumbsup2

PIT came out @ $99 & is holding steady w/AT (anywhere in FL)...

Don't make me whine about what I'm paying to get home w/SW:rotfl2: .

Funny thing is SW rate was horrid to begin with & then they raised it the next day...guess I have a bargin after all;)

My boss just booked a bunch of plane tickets from Nashville and found that AA was having a pretty good sale--check it out.

We flew into TPA last year and are doing it again this year. This year we're going the end of June and are paying $119 pp round trip from PHL. The drive took us about 1 hr 20 min. I would have been less if I did not go the wrong way on 275 when leaving the airport.

The airport was much less crowede than MCO so going through security was very fast.

I highly recommend flying into TPA>
