Anyone ever fly into Orlando Sanford Int'l Airport???

A few questions from one who usually flies into MCO.

How far is Sanford Airport from WDW?? What is the airport like?
Has anyone taken car service from Orlando Sanford to a WDW resort?? If so, who did you use and how much was it??

If you do a Search for "Sanford" on the Transportation board, you'll find lots of hits.

We have flown into Sanford a few times. Each time we rented a car. It is about 50 miles from WDW, but an easy drive. The airport is small and manageable -- a small regional airport. The airport has a pretty decent website that will provide information on the car rental agencies and other transportation options. Obviously, you would not be able to use Magical Express as that is only for MCO.

We've flown into Sanford in the past...very nice, small, user friendly airport. It takes about 50 mins to get to WDW from there. You can expect car services to run about $200 r/t, not including gratuity. We are flying in there in April and will be renting a car since we are heading to US/IoA, port and then WDW, with a stop in Tampa at the end..yes, it's a long trip, about 12 days.

I agree with small, easy airport. With the car service cost, it was cheaper/easier for us to rent a car. We have a family of 5 we require a larger vehicle. The cost was $150 one way. It was nice to have a car to be able to run places like Walmart and the grocery store. It is a little bit of a hike to the car rental agency building.
