We fly from NYC and fly on JetBlue. I noticed a few times that the flights were very reasonable. Has anyone ever done this? We will rent a car.

Its about a 3 hour drive from JAX to WDW. The road is pretty good (I-95 & I-4) except that there is some construction going on in Jacksonville itself, along I-4 as you get on by Daytona Beach, and again on I-4 in Orlando proper.

I have wondered the same thing. I can get Southwest on March Break Buffalo to Jax for $118. Also Delta airlines flies into Melbourne Florida, it is consistently the cheapest. It's $402 return Cdn right now with a 2 hour layover in Atlanta.

I've used Jax AP a few times as we have family there. Right off 95 about 10 miles north of the city itself. Very user friendly, if you can handle the 3 hour drive to WDW and save money it might be a good option for you.

How much money will you save when you add on the cost of the car rental and gas? If you would be renting a car anyway (we haven't bothered with that expense since they started ME), then its only the 3 hours+ there and back. Unless the cost savings were significant, it wouldn't be worth my time.

We rented a car on our last trip this past August. We went to water parks on some days for 4 hours and then off to the parks at night. We also had dinner at some resorts and to be honest, it would be hard to do the trip just using the bus service. We will rent a car the next time we go next August.

We always rent a car as well. So that isn't an issue. So Melbourne would be ok to fly to then? Small airport?

I flew in to JAX one time to save some $ on airfare. As an earlier poster mentioned, its about a 3 hour drive. What I liked about it was on the way back, I drove on A1A along the coast for a good stretch...much of it is a relatively high speed limit (I think 50 or 55 in places) and its a nice drive.

We booked to fly into Melbourne. From Toronto (we are Cdn) Paid $1660 roundtrip for 4 of us. NON Stop!
