anyone ever feel torn?

I know in my heart I have made the best decision however I just hope I didn't burn bridges with this district forever. It is one of the highest paid districts in our state with wonderful new buildings and great staff. UGH! I just couldn't bring myself to work full time yet. My youngest DS is 3 and will be in preschool and my oldest DS is 5 and will be in Kindergarten in the fall. I just needed to vent........anyone ever feel torn between work and home? My DH doesn't understand what the big deal is.......he does support my decision but doesn't get it.

Oh yes!!! I don't think there is a mother out there that doesnt' understand what you mean. Fortunately for me, I have a wonderful boss and can leave work whenever necessary. I don't get paid if I am not here since I am an hourly employee but I don't care. My kids are more important. It also helps that their grandma is watching them when I have to work.
It's not easy and no one can make that decision for you but don't beat yourself up over it.

Absolutely! Case in point, today dd's daycare is hosting a Mother's Day luncheon - at 11:30. I'm taking a 1/2 day so I can attend otherwise dd will be heartbroken. I am fortunate that my boss is very family friendly. There are days when I want more than anything to be home and days when I love being at work. It is quite a balance!

I work full time, and have that struggle almost every day. It never goes away. I do work at a place where I have great flexibility. If I need to go to an assembly in the middle of the day, help with a PTA breakfast, or take my kids to the doctor, I can leave without repercussion. if I get a call that my child is sick, I can walk out the door immediately. That's what I need to be able to work.

Good luck to you. I think your district has dealt with many people in the same situation, and will understand.
