Anyone ever drove from NC?

We drive from just SE of Charlotte- it usually takes 8 or so hours door-to-reort. We take 77 south to 26 to 95 south to 4. We leave at 3 am, and usually pull into our resort at around noon or so. The drive really isn't bad at all, since we really don't go through any big cities.

We have always driven and love it. We print off Disney coloring pages, mazes, trivia questions. We also listen to all our Disney CD's to get our mood into full swing. Make sure to stop and stretch a few times. We like to hit the fruit stands for a great snack. I would much rather drive than fly. I guess I just hear the open road calling my name!

If you go to any of the popular ptp networks (Kazaa, Grokster, Limewire) you can find all kinds of Disney music. We search off and on all year for audio formats of Disney World rides. (Thats where someone has rode the ride, AND recorded the whole ride in audio format) My old computer has about 400 Disney tracks on it. Just before our trip, we burn them all to a disc. Since there arent that nany rides out there to be found, we also add to the disc some of the more unusual sounds of Disney; like background music in Space Mountain for instance, or fountain music at epcot. Monorail narration, etc. We copy whats on the disc to the CD cover, and before we leave we burn them to a disc. On the way down we make a game out of seeing who can guess what it is first. Since weve all been there over and over were gettin pretty fast at guessing what they all are!
It helps get us in the mood for the vacation.

we just got back from a trip down there and we are just above yall in danville va we left around 10pm was in orlando before 9am only had too stop a few times... kids sleep all the way they are both 11. ya want too look at stoppin at exit 3 before leaving GA they have some of the best gas prices on I-95 south have a great trip

Exit ONE is good too! I saw it (honestly... not exxagerating!) for $3.15 (during the supposedly shortage) at a FL exit, and the very next exit was #1 in GA, and it was $2.56 a gallon!!! No joke!!!

We leave at 3:15 am and stopped only three times we get to Pop at 12:30 pm. We check in, eat lunch and then take a nap until 6:00 pm. Eat at Ohanas or Chef Mickey's at 7:45 pm, back in the room by 10:30 pm. (My husband usually takes the day off before we leave to nap through out the day for the long drive the next day.)

off subject...

we are just above yall in danville va

Your giving away your southern draw! :happytv:

I used to think I didnt have an accent till I started going to WDW. People can pick me out after 2 sentences and say "your either from NC or SC?". I never thought I had any accent, but apparently I'm screaming "redneck" LOL.
(Though I'm definately not, at least not by MY defination of redneck)
Since we have started going so often weve been correcting each other's accents, and were trying our best to get rid of that NC accent. Not thats its bad or anything, its just that you dont realize how much we abuse the english language here in NC till you LEAVE NC. :rotfl2:
We are always talking like Brits here in our home, and occasionally even in public, just because it sounds so cool. :teeth:
My wife grew up beside a lady from England, and my wife has been there a few times. She can imitate the strong English accent PERFECTLY! At any given time we might sound like peoples from many different cultures/countries, and were bilingual. We do it just for fun. No racism intended. I have family from Boston MA, and I can do their "northern" accent perfectly. Get the daaaag in th caaar were goin to th paaark." and its not Sure, its showar.
Thats one of the things I like about Disney. I LOVE to listen to peoples accents!!! Some people complain about it. I think its cool. :cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2
The only thing is I just cant pin down ANYTHING that sounds specifically FLORIDAN. Some say they can spot a native floridian, but I never can. To me they dont have an accent. JMHO. My wife's family is from FL, when they come up here I always think they sound like us, but when were in FL, Floridians can always pick us out and know where were from :confused3 Why is it NC and GA seem to have a high southern draw, and florida, even further south, dont?
