Has anyone out there ever done the "Around the world" tour at Epcot that is done on the Segways ? :moped:
Is it worth the money? Are you on the Segways the whole time?
Any information and feedback on this tour would be a great help.

Thanks,
JenniB

My husband and son did the tour in August. They loved it and would do it again. They learned how to use the segways for about an hour, maybe a little less and then the rest of the time was spent in WS. Ask about discounts when reserving your tour. Take your camera and a CM will take pics of you.

We wanted to do that tour when we were there 2 weeks ago, and they were booked solid. Said it was currently the most popular tour. So I recommend that you make your reservations as early as you can!!!

On the bright side, since we couldn't get the Segway tour, we did Backstage Magic - more expensive, but definitely worth it! We loved it!

A group of 10 of us did this tour in December, and every person LOVED it! Well worth the money! (Well, I did have a 15% discount) :teeth: We booked WAY in advance - there are two groups of 10 allowed everyday.

Started out with a short movie, and then right on to the Segways. If you have never ridden one before you really NEED that first hour. Its fun learning how to control the Segway, and I didn't find it boring at all! You'll need those skills as you work your way around World Showcase during the second hour.

I'd go again in a second! ::yes::

DEFINITELY would go again! We ended up going for a last-minute trip spanning marathon weekend and only had about a month to plan. (DH business trip.) I called just to see if there was an opening while we were there and we got into the early tour on marathon morning. THAT was an adventure! Getting to the park was tricky, and getting to guest services was even trickier. I apparently did the math all wrong because I thought the runners wouldn't be there yet when we toured, but we were there at PEAK time. That said, it was still a blast! There were areas we had to dodge pedestrians, but once we got back into the pavilions it was great. We had to go single file a lot and stay out of the way of the runners, but we also had a fantastic audience and got a ton of comments from them. More than once things were shouted like "I'll give you a thousand bucks for one of those right now!" :)

I'm not sure I'd do it marathon morning again, but even with that hassle it was well worth the money (we got a 15% or 20% off discount for DVC or AP - not sure which) and we are planning to do it again when we go in May!

I'm not sure the regular price, but for the two of us, after discount and taxes, the total was around $135.

Thanks!! maybe I can convince my mom or dad to let me go. :)

It is an absolute BLAST I did it (44 y/o) with my dad (68 y/o) and would not hesitate to do it again. It was the highlight of the trip and worth every penny. We'll probably do it again. We were lucky, I called about a week before the trip to make reservations and were able to get on. This was in October during F & W, too. You get a discount with an AP; 15% I think.

I made reservations yesterday for myself, my husband and our 18 year old son for Valentine's Day. I was able to get a AAA discount and it is $200 for the three of us.

This is a surprise for our son. I think he's going to love it. I hope I can do it!

I believe the minimum age is 16, KirstenJB. Don't know how old you are, but just thought I'd add that after seeing your "mom and dad" comment.

DH did it at Thanksgiving and wants to do it again. They watched a short film then learned to ride it in the training room. They practice starting, stopping, going in and out of cones, etc. Then they took their practicing out on the open road. They rode out through the park (Epcot) and through the countries, stopping in Italy for free time and pictures. The CM took DH's pic on his Segway. Some people got off to rest in Italy but DH said he just rode around while he waited. He wasn't going to lose any ride time. He loved it. Couldn't stop talking about it.

I am so excited !! - DH and I are taking DS and his friends on this tour on the morning of his 16th birthday - wanted to do something he would always remember and he has been interested in the Segway since they were introduced !! Has anyone done the 2nd tour (9:30 start instead of 8:30) ? - that's what I booked, but I'm a little concerned that Epcot has been changed to EMH park that morning - I'm wondering how they keep you in WS after 11:00 when it opens (and a bit worried that it will be more crowded with EMH happening).

No, DH did the 8:30 tour. I guess they figure that even by 11:30 when the tour would be over that WS wouldn't be that crowded.

My wife and son did it back in October. They had a great time. You do not see anything special at Epcot but you get to have a great deal of fun with the segways

I'll be 18 the end of this month...but since they're paying for me...i thought I might ask them first. ;)

DH and I did the Segway Tour last week - Jan 11th. We went on the 9.30am tour (the second of the morning), our guides were Lamonte and Jordon.

Lamonte spend about 10 minutes going over the safety procedures, showing as the features of a Segway and a quick movie.

Then we all put on our helmets and spent about 45 minutes in the classroom learning how to:
Balance the segway
stand on it and still balance
go foward
stop
go backwards
stop
turn
speed up and slow down
we had a mini slalom course to practise on
then we practised going up and down a hill
and how to lift the segway over an obstacle

The second hour was spent out in the world showcase, and it was open already due to airconditioning problems in Futureworld and alot of the attractions there being closed.

But it was not a problem.

We rode through China, Germany, Italy, France, the US and Japan (not necessarily in that order)

Lots of comments from guests and staff.

It was well worth the money and I would recommend to anyone.

Just finished it on January 17.

Believe me, by the end of the tour you will be proficient enough to maneuver through the crowds surrounding the character bus.

Thanks for the responses !!! Sounds like the 9:30 tour will be still be great - can't wait !! :smooth:
