Since Southwest allows 2 checked bags per passenger, I am seriously considering packing a case of water in one of our extra suitcases! Do you think this would "fly"?![]()
Looks like you'll be at BC. If this is the case...take a rolling suitcase over to BW, cross through BW lobby and head down towards the security shack. Cross the street and you're at the Hess Station...lots of good deals on water and other snack type things there. We always go to the Hess station when at BW...just a bit further for those at YC or BC. Much better than lugging cases of water in your checked baggage.
Yeah, seems like a lot of work to haul a case of water from home when you can go to Hess and buy one for under $5.

I didn't realize that Hess was an option - but that is now my new plan! I was comparing a $3 case of water brought from home to paying $2-$3 per bottle of water in the parks. Checking an extra suitcase doesn't really seem like that big of a deal to me compared to saving $70. Thanks to the poster who filled me in about Hess! So, it is just across the street from the BWI?
We've checked a case of beer, water, half a ham, liter and a half of wine, same size of vodka, no problem. Of course, those were separate bags on separate trips.

For our trip in '08 I packed about 8 litre bottles of water in my checked bag, zip locked & stored in a soft sided cooler. Everything arrived safely & nothing leaked. Many, many years of travelling via motorcycle has resulted in streamlining our packing to the point where a week's worth of essentials fit into a tank bag and tail pack so there was plenty of extra room in our checked luggage.
I packed the water because it was our first trip and I wanted one less thing to worry about (it's pretty much all that I drink). I had no idea how accessible the Hess station was.
We're really just one thread away from someone putting a kid or a spouse into a checked bag.
