Our flight home leaves at 12:05pm, which at first I thought would be great, but now, it seems we're wasting 2 days traveling, since ME will pick us up at 9am! Does anyone know if they charge a fee per traveler? Like the other airlines?

Thanks for any help information, experiences!!

Hi,
There's no fee to change if you do it on line, not sure about if you call in. If the flight you want is a different fare from your oringal price, you would only be charged the differnce in airfare.

All you have to do to book a later flight on SW is find the flight you want and begin the booking process. When you get to the page where you enter the CC info, etc then you just need to open a new window and go back into SWA.com and cancel your old flights. At the end it will give you a confirmation # for the cancellation that will give you access to the "Ticketless Travel Funds" (the $$ you paid for the old tickets). Write that number down and then go back to your first window with your new flight reservations... where it asks you if you want to apply "ticketless Travel Funds" click yes and then enter your info and it will apply all of what you paid for the old tickets to the new ones (if the fares are the same it will be an even trade, if the new tickets cost more you can enter a CC# for the difference and if the new tickets cost less there will be $ left in your "ticketless Travel Funds" account)

It is easy and there is no change fee involved. One of the nicest things about using SWA!!

so even if I purchase a fare that says "Non-refundable", I can cancel that flight and then use this same money to rebook if a lower fare comes along? Just want to double check as the FEb 12 return flight I see right now is very high compared to what I booked going down,(almost double), so should I stil book it and hope that a lower fare will come along?

Actually, there's an easier way FOR CHANGES ONLY (doesn't apply to getting a DING! fare). Go to TRAVEL CENTER, then click on CHANGE ITINERARY. Have your confirmation number ready and the credit card holder name. Click on retrieve flight information.

Next, find your itinerary and click on the box under CHANGE? Hit CHANGE SELECTED TRIP. Select your new flight and follow the instructions. If there are any changes in fare pricing, you'll have to have your CC# ready, but if the new flight is cheaper, you'll be given a ticketless travel fund to use for a future flight.

I just did this yesterday ––*moved my return flight from Los Angeles to SDF up a day, which resulted in a $77 cheaper fare! HTH!!

Non Refundable on SW means that they don't have to give you your money back, You can get a credit good for 1 year anytime.

There are people who have suceeded in a refund, but it does involve calling the customer service people. You may or may not get a refund.

I travel frequently and just take the ticketless travel funds. They won't go to waste with me, but YMMV.

That is just what I ended up doing (I called SW shortly after posting and she told me about going into Travel Center) so I changed our flight, and got a 60 cent credit! LOL :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks again everyone for your help!!!

Now that my excited breathing is begining to return to normal.... :goodvibes ........I want to thank everyone in this post for helping me!

I had a DING fare from PIT to MCO for $84 which was not bad but a better one just came up and the total on that was only $54. So with your great instructions and shaking hands I cancelled the first flight and booked the cheaper one!

It really was as easy as you all said and now I have a $30. credit on my Travel Center to use later! :cool1:

Glad to hear it worked out !
Just curious....didn't an earlier post mention that you couldn't change your itinenary with a Ding fare ?
....you just said that you did... so,did you use the "opening 2 window method" or the "Travel Centre cancellation method"?

You cannot use the travel center option to book a ding fare (since the only way to book a DING is through the DING window)....so if you switch from a regular fare to a DING fare you have to do the 2 window thing....you can use the travel center if switching between 2 regularly posted fares.

I used the two window thing. I opened the travel center and started to cancel the first flight.

Then I opened the DING window, selected the travel date, the flight I wanted, applied the rapid rewards number, and got to the point of payment on the flight.

Then I finished canceling the first flight and then applied the information (which was the old confirmation number and the credit card information) into the payment method of the new flight.

And voila it was done and I had the new flight and a credit to use on another flight.
