We wanted to go and check out the Adventurer's club and maybe the comedy club.

It sounds like you are allowed to bring kids as long as they are accompanied by an adult, but it sounds like it might not be such a great idea.

My kids (4 and 6) are well behaved and that is not an issue, it is just that a lot of people will have payed for babysitters and are going there to get away from all the kids in the parks all day and might resent the presence of my kids. (my kids are the shy quiet reserved type, I can take them anywhere).

How common are kids on Pleasure Island?

My DD won't stay with a sitter, and I would like to see the place. We would leave by 9pm for bed.

I don't know if you would be able to see your shows and be out of there by 9pm. The shows usually don't get started until after 7pm
I personally would not take my child into Pleaure Island. It can get awful crazy there especially Thur-Sat.

We went on a cruise last year and the kids slept through all the shows.....

I didn't realize it was set up like "shows" I thought it was more like a continuous thing where we could bop in and bop back out.

I haven't been to PI in approx 5 yrs but i don't think it has changed. The dance clubs are continiuous but the comedy and Adventures club are at set times. Make sure you get to the shows early, I remember we tried to pop into the comedy club at the show time and they were already full.

The Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurers Club can definitely be PG-13. Also, the shows at the AC don't even start until 9:00 usually.

While I think Disney is for everyone, I also think that just like certain "Children Only" activities, there is room for some "Adult Only" activities.

After a day surrounded by children (often neices and nephews), DH and I enjoy getting out for some "adult time".

Bottom line, PI is a BAR. Would you take your kids to a bar at home?

It will be there when they get older and you can leave them in one of the kids clubs. That will give you something to look forward to :)

There are tons of kids on PI. We took our two 6 year old daughters there last summer and they loved being able to dance with mom and dad, be part of the show at the Adventure Club, listen to the bands etc.... We did leave by 10:30 and went the night of a beach day so the kids were not over tired. There are some clubs on PI that are adults only, dont try to enter those but some are geared twords families. And Yes, TSK,TSK on us we have taken our children in BARS before. As long as its a nice place like PI I dont see the harm.......TAZ

I wouldn't, but I also think Disney should enforce the "special place for adult's" That they bill pleasure Island to be. I personally don't like to drink or party around kids. And I wouldn't want the castmembers to change any routines because there were kids around. Another exampl.....My sister recently went to an aerosmith concert and a nine year old was sitting next to her. It really cut in on her enjoyment because she didn't want to smoke or drink or get to crazy next to a kid. Same thing I think. But I guess there are those that say you shouldnt' smoke, drink, curse or party anyway:rolleyes:

-Thanks for the input everyone! We won't be drinking or partying ourselves, it is not our thing.

I think what we are going to do is go ahead and go right when it opens and just take a peek and be out of there by 8 or 9. There shouldn't be too many drunk people around before 9, and we will be gone before any serious partying goes on. Also, we won't "hang out" by anyone so they don't have to feel self concious and we will just walk through the adventurer's club and not see the shows.

I think any innuendo type jokes will just go right over their heads, and we will just leave if it feels wrong.

LOL, and I promise not to bring a stroller!!! I do believe those on pleasure island deserve a break from strollers!

We just got back - and I remember seeing Pleasure Island on the
TV channel that is a continuous Disney commerical - and I am pretty sure the it said you had to be 18 and up to go to Pleasure Island

That 18 and up rule is only if you're planning to enter alone. I went with my family once after we ate dinner at Portobello Yacht Club, mostly because my friend and I wanted to see what it was (we were 16 at the time). I also went again at 18 with some friends and that time we saw plenty of small kids, especially in the area where you can play carnival-type games to win a prize. As long as you don't plan on drinking and staying out all night with you kids I think it's fine to take them there for a few hours.

Also, the shows at the AC don't even start until 9:00 usually.

Sometimes, the AC will be rented out to private parties and will not even open until around 9.

On regular nights, performances start around 7:30 with the first "library show" taking place around 8.

There are a number of shows which take place at set times. The characters also wander around the club for most of the night, schmoozing with guests.

Minors are allowed on Pleasure Island if they are accompanied by their parents or guardians at all times. Two clubs (Mannequins and BET Soundstage) do not allow anyone under 21 inside.
