Anyone ever bring glow-bracelets to Disney?

I'm wondering if anyone here ever brought glow bracelets to the parks? They are quite cheap on Ebay in bulk. We generally buy a box every summer to take camping and sailing. I like them on the boat if we are ever out at dusk or after dark I like to have all the kids lit up in case they go over and we need to find them (has never happened, probably won't, but..) Does make it easier to keep track of them in the dark, no matter where you are.

Anyway, the kids love 'em, and it's way cheaper than buying anything like that in the parks, especially when they die in a few hours. We have had a lot of fun at the local fireworks by (quitetly) giving out a few to little kids sitting near us. Our whole area was glowing! This might be fun at Disney as well, create some extra magic for some kids for a few cents each, plus distract my kids from shopping for cheap suveneers (how the heck to you spell that? :confused3 ) [shakes off temporary brain spasm]

Would Disney have a problem with us bringing them in do you think?

I bought some (ebay also) and plan to bring them in or have the kids wear them in. We are going in a week and I will let you know what happens.

I bought a pack of 100 glow bracelets on e-bay for $12 and we brought them for our trip 2 weeks ago. We would connect several together to make necklaces or headbands or whatever DD13 and her friend wanted. They had a ball with them.

Also, they would wear a few extra and whenever some other kid would comment on them, they would give one to them to keep. :earsboy:

We have bought the bracelet ones from the Dollar Store (15 to a capsule), and brought them with us. Our kids had fun with them, and they loved giving some out to other children (with the parent's permission). Lots of Disney magic in that!!!

Great idea!
I was going to order some from Oriental Trading, but was waiting till I had a $60 order to get the free shipping. Don't know why I never thought about eBay, duh. :confused3
I did pick up some light up ring pops at Toys R Us on clearance for .25 the other day. I bought plenty... now I think I'll head over to eBay to check out the light up necklaces.
Thanks OP! :goodvibes

Jennifer. :flower:

I've got to work on a better sig line than this, lol

We always buy some for our trip. Since they sell them at Fantasmic for an astronomical price, it saves a ton of dollars on souvenirs and the kids are happy! We also get ours at the Dollar Tree.

I read in another thread about this place:

http://www.berniesglowsticks.com/index.asp

I am going to place an order for some glow sticks, glow necklaces, light wands, etc to give to the kids on our way down and when we are in the parks.

Thanks for the link, some of thier assortments are cheaper than you could put them together on ebay, but looks like the packs of just glow sticks are a little more.

What I'm seeing on Ebay is about $10/100 of the 4" bracelets, less if you buy more.

Anyone want to go in on buying 1000, and splitting them up? much cheaper that way! :)

We brought these to Disney 2 years ago, bought them at the dollar store in tubes of 15, took one tube with us each nite and let the kids wear them...........they also had fun sharing them with other kids we might have met on a ride or attraction. ..............spreading some pixie dust :goodvibes
I am buying them again for our trip in Nov.

princess: feeling like a princess already! princess:

I bought 1000 for $50.00 (20.00 bid and 30.00 S&H). 1000 is a lot you say, but it takes 2-3 to make an adult necklace and they last up to 3 yrs if you don't use them. I figure we will use them for many things. I didn’t think to give them away at the park, but now I plan to bring an extra tube so we can do that. The following is the link to what I bought and who I bought it from.

If you and a friend go into it together that would be 500 for $25.00.

Have a Great Disney Day!

we got some about a year ago that are still in my cabnit, used on a few occations, but i didn't think about taking them with us, i'll have to add that to my packing list! :)

Saw these on another thread and so went to the Dollar Store to see if we had them here....I bought 6 small packets of the bracelets and then got four of the large ones for necklaces. I opened one of each to make sure that they would work and to my surprise they are great!! I will be getting more before our trip as my DGDs found my stash and now they are wearing them!!! LOL!

We bring them every time we visit. We also purchase them at the Dollar store.

"They last up to 3 yrs if you don't use them."

I was just going to ask about that. Do they really last that long, anyone know first hand? Our trip is over nine months away, but I am gradually trying to stock up on "tinkerbelle gifts" and little things here and there so I don't have to do it all at the end. If I buy some now, they'll be fine next June as long as they stay in the package?

They do last a long time as long as you store them in a temperate place. Don't expose them to temperatures above 85F or below freezing.

If you plan to take them w/ you travelling, it is best to buy the type that are individually packaged in a hard plastic "sleeve", so that they don't get bent in transit. This kind tend to be just a little more expensive, but worth it; you don't want to find that the glow is gone already when you arrive.

BTW, these do tend to trigger suspicion by TSA screeners, so pack them near the top of your carry-on bag, in a paper sack or such, so that the screener can take them out and peek in without alerting your children. Mark the bag, "Surprise for children, please handle discreetly."

It may have just been my bad luck, but I bought a tube -- I think it was 100, glow necklaces from Oriental Trading for our July/August trip. About one in every 4 didn't light up, or didn't light up very bright. I was very disappointed to have brought them to WDW and then they didn't work! Does anyone know of a particular brand that they have had good luck with?

Thanks.

I think it may just be age, they have a limited shelf life, so the 'fresher' they are the better. We've had good luck with the ones we purchased on Ebay, only a few 'duds' in the bunch, but I can't think of a way to be sure.

And to think I was so excited to get a pack of 6 for $1 :guilty: I guess I'll have to get a few more huh?!

my kids love the glow sticks, so I bring them with us and surprise them with them in a ride or while we are walking as it gets dark out. And then, I don't have to hear the whines for the several light toys.
