The online pricing that I get for Expedia for when we are thinking of going seems much better than what it is through the Disney website (and it's in US funds). Obviously, will price through some travel agents as well, but was wondering if anyone here has ever used expedia to book a DIS vacation.

We book all our travel through Expedia including our trip to Disney May 29th. I have found it always to be a great deal.

Although I have not used Expedia to book disney trips i have booked airfare and hotels through them with no problems .

We have found that Expedia has the best prices for travel to Las Vegas, but in general not other destinations. We have never had a problem booking with them and I know several other people who have booked with them and they would agree. I have done better booking A WDW trip by booking everything al a carte and not from Expedia.

I have never booked anything like a Disney Resort through Expedia, but have booked lots of hotels (elsewhere) and flights to Disney with them. They have been great so far.

I have learned one thing though:

If you have airfare booked with them and you cancel, they charge more fees to rebook than if you do it directly through the airline, which you can do. For instance, we were rebooking through Expedia and they honored the credit, but charged $100 per person to rebook, where the airline only charged $100 total. It was a lucky break... :cool1:

We booked our July trip through Expedia. We got airfare with AA and hotel room for 10 night (have to book 3 more, they only did 10 at a time). When I priced the flight alone it was more than the package through Expedia.

We're taking our first trip to WDW on August 23. It's booked through Expedia - Animal Kingdom Lodge, free dining and Park Hopper tickets (you recieve an e-mail confirmation and print out your vouchers before you leave home). We had originally packaged it up with airfare as well and saved it to an itinerary but when we went back to make the purchase the airfare had gone up about $200.00 per person. We REALLY should have taken that original package! We ended up booking the air separately through Travelocity (two one-way segments on different airlines).

We use both of these sites and always compare one to another for price and availability when we can. The way the Expedia site is set up works better for putting together air/hotel/activity packages but we find Travelocity is better for finding flights alone - they often have more available options than Expedia but mostly the price is close to the same.

We also take cruises and have tried booking them every which way. Travelocity has always got the best prices, even better than the cruiselines and land based TA's can't touch them. For example, we were originally looking at Disney land/sea for our August trip and Traveocity was $600.00 less than the Disney site for the three of us. Expedia.ca doesn't have an cruise section although Expedia.com does and I think you can purchse from there by phone - never tried it though.

All in all, we've booked air, hotels, activities, and cars through both sites interchangeably and don't remember ever having a single problem. :thumbsup2 I can't say the same for trips where we've used a local TA! I'm sure you'll do fine with Expedia. For peace of mind you might want to call a customer service agent to go over you itinerary with you just so you know there's actually someone on the other end.

I booked the flight through Expedia last time, and it drove me crazy, every time I went to book the flight had gone up by the time I was ready to pay - finally gave in and booked in at the higher price. This time I booked through Travelocity, had not problems and saved, using Travelocity (between the four of us), $600 for the identical flight through Expedia.

Do you fly out of a Canadian or US airport when booking through Expedia?

We booked our trip to DisneyLAND last year through Expedia.ca and everything worked out great! It was very convinient because we bought our hotel, flight, airport transfers, universal, seaworld and san diego zoo admissions AND bus transfers all online, in canadian $ and got a GREAT price. It was a real help too because i'd never been to anaheim before and didn't really know about the hotels around the area. Anyway, long story short, we got a great deal, everything worked out fantastic and it was all paid for before we left home, nothing to worry about (except food). The only reason I didn't book our WDW trip through expedia was because I wanted the freedom to change my package if a discount code or offer came out. Looking back, we could have saved a bundle of cash if we had booked through expedia.ca and would probably do so for our next trip.

As for your departure airport, type in the airport you'd like to leave from and your destination, see what you get. With expedia.CA you can fly out of most canadian cities. Not true for expedia.COM... Canadians can't book flights or packages from expedia.COM

I booked from Calgary to Orlando, same as this time. Time will tell I guess, I sure Frontier is still in the air in September :) Would have loved the direct from Westjet but not offered that time of year.

Can't stand the excitement, we went last time for my 40th in 2003, this time for hubbies - although his is Oct 23rd we are going early to take advantage of free dining - what a treat!

Our flights in Jan 2003 were $3470, plus we were up against a $1.62 exchange. Brutal....

When did expedia.ca start booking WDW resorts? I missed that!

I think they started late last year or early this year. I was pretty PO'ed cause you could get a GREAT discount on a WDW resort through .com but couldn't even book a WDW resort on .ca! It happened sometime during the planning stage of my trip but before we booked it in January.

Hello!

I booked once through Expedia with no problems. I did end up paying more for the hotel than I should have. I would just make sure you are familiar with the hotel prices in the area before you book.

It was cheaper for us to book directly through Disney and Universal for the hotels as Expedia/Travelocity charged a service fee.
