I am trying to plan a family trip for next year with DH, DS(7) and DS (almost 3) (these are the ages at time of trip). Anyway I am really torn between Disney Cruise 7 day, Disney land trip 7 day OR Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos. We have been to Disney many times and part of me wants to try something new but then my mind always goes back to a good ol Disney trip because we always have fun and I know what to expect. I am afraid of doing a family resort vacation b/c we have never done that before.

Soooo.... I am coming to you experts for help. Has anyone ever gone to a Beaches resort and if so did you and your family like it? Or did you wish you had gone back to Disney.
Thank you for any input, comments or suggestions!!:worship:

I haven't done Beaches yet...But my Sil has and totally LOVED IT ( and she is a DVC member and goes to Disney all the time).I am thinking of doing it next year. The only advice is, if you don't have passports yet...apply now , they do take forever and ever and you do need them for Turks and Caicos.

I've heard that Beaches resorts are really nice, however I have never personally visited one.

I will say that dh, my sister, BIL and I all went on a cruise last fall for the first time and we had a wonderful time. My sister and her husband then made a week long trip to Mexico last month at a resort where it rained (Tropical storm event) the entire time. BIL, who previously was against the idea of cruising, came back saying that they should have gone on a cruise, since cruise ships can change paths when storms are coming up and the entire week wouldn't be spent inside.

Regardless of your decision, I'm sure you guys will have lots of fun!!

GO FOR IT!! I've heard it is a blast....very expensive but great!

I haven't been there but we are thinking of going in a couple years. From my research they look great.

We stayed at a Beaches in Jamaica. There are 2 different resorts next to each other in Negril....we were told they were the same, but one just didn't have the same number of restaurants. We picked the cheaper one and were pretty disappointed. I had family staying at the other one and it was nice. We did enjoy having everything pre-paid. DD was just 3 at the time, so we spent most of the time at the beach and at the pool...but we did take a glass bottom boat ride and do the big water trikes. I think most of the problems we had were with the staff. (the whole "no worries, your in Jamaica mon" wasn't the problem solver I was expecting) We have looked at the Turks and Caicos resort online, but never been. We like to scuba dive, so it has been in the back of my mind as a potential vacation spot. Bottom line, we weren't impressed with our choice, and won't return to that Beaches, but haven't ruled out the entire resort chain as a future option.

Thank you for your responses.... I think we are going to just wait a few months to see if there are any great disney deals for February. I think part of my problem is that I love all the pre-planning for disney trips and would miss that if we simply just booked a beach resort vacation --- how crazy is that?:hyper: I also am not very good at sitting around doing nothing on vacation which is another reason why I love Disney trips!
Thanks again and happy summer everyone!:cool1:
