I couldnt sleep last night....got to thinking about the boards (does that mean I'm here too much? Could this be a potential problem????)

Anyways...I got to thinking about the times when I've been on an attraction and it broke down (HEAVEN FORBID THE MAGIC STOPS!!!) I've been on HM and it had to stop for a few seconds here and there, and also on pirates. But just wondering if anyone had any stories about how the attraction REALLy did break down!

Please! IM the breakdown queen! People see me in line and run away.

We broke down on the Materhorn at DL. We wound up the mountain and just stopped. Then we paniced when we hear another car comming up behind us at full speed. But it was on the other track. Then the folks in full costume came climbing over the ledge and walked us halfway down to a door, then we went INSIDE the mountain. Very cool. We popped out and got on another track to do it right.

We were next in line when space mountain broke down. When they finally brought the car back in and told the folks they could ride again, two people said no thanks and we got to hop right in. The catch was this was the test run and we did it with the lights on. I cant tell you how much more scary it was because we saw just how tight the tracks are and how close we ride to them.

This last time, we broke down for the first time as parents. We were riding test track in two seperate cars. My husband had our three year old and I had our 9 yr old. We broke down for twenty minutes. They sent us through again "to do it right" and it broke down again. There were aparently loud groans in my husband car as our tot declaired, "pee pee! pee pee!"

WEve also broken down at another park......

We were on Buzz Lightyear when it stopped for 15 minutes. Which wouldn't have been so bad, except that we were in the tunnel with the stars flying past! Maybe Disney was trying to brainwash us "You like to pay full rack-rate....rack rate is good...." :)

And we weren't even in a good place to rack up points!

Back in 1996, I was on the TTA when it broke down. Our train rammed into the one in from of it in the tunnel above Mickey's Star Traders (where you're not going fast at all) and then one rane into us, than another, then another. Then we sat for 10 minutes while the "Please remain seated, etc, etc, etc played over and over and over again. (Yikes)

After those 10 minutes, a ride operator came through, opened the car and led us backstage and down a set of stairs. Then they took our whole group to the front of the line at Space Mountain.

All in all, it was actually a kind of memorable experience.

We also got stopped on Space Mountain. Since we were the last car out, we got to sit and wait the longest while they got things going again. We did get to go on it with the lights on. I liked it much better because I could see what was coming and the ride was nice and slow. Then we went on it again in the dark, I HATED IT!!!! Very different in the dark! I will never go on it again!

Pirates in DL kept breaking down. Every time I got in line it, it would break down again.

It happened to us at US in April. We were on MIB and it broke down-15-20 min. Luckily the guns kept working so we racked up a lot of free points! They were nice enough to let everyone on the ride get off and go back through the baby swap area and get back on. They held the people who were waiting in line until everyone who was stuck got back on. I thought now that's customer service.

We broke down in Test Track in April, twice! It broke after we were loaded and we had to wait about 15 min for the ride to start. Should have given us a clue, because it broke down a few minutes later. We were the only car stuck in a hot tunnel for about a half hour. We were finally resued and escorted down the tracks with about 20 other people. We thought later is was good thing we weren't stuck in the cold or the hot room!! We ended up getting 2 free passes each to the front of the line! Unfortuately, we never got to use them as it was still broken 2 days later when we had to leave! But I think they are good forever and hopefully we'll use them in Sept. :bounce:

Wow, could you imagine getting stuck in the hot room on TT?
To me the cold room would feel good:D DH and I were on TT when it got stopped, just as you are about to speed up to go outside.....We waited about 5 minutes when CM's came and let everybody out, he led us backstage... I loved seeing the sign on the door as we entered the "showroom" area. It said something like, "Smile" you are going "onstage".

We were on BTMRR when it broke down. It was right in that little shack area, and there were these lights that were emitting soo much heat it was boiling there. The CMs came out and said five more minutes, five minutes turned into 20 I think-not sure exactly. I blame the guy behind us, his last ride was SM and it broke down while he was on it lol. Apparently someones hat flew off their head and landed on the track, it took them awhile to find it-makes me very impressed with disney safety!!!

Several years ago we were on the Jungle Cruise when our boat died and it was hilarious. We stopped in the middle of the elephant bath. Our guide had no more bullets to shoot, their signal at that time was 2 shots (they no longer shoot their guns). Anyway, as boats came behind us we moved up just enough to stop right on the trip plates for the elephants to raise their trunks and squirt water. We got wet and just sat their until they could get a boat in from the other end to tow us. We had a good laugh!

Back in 1975 We were staying at the Contemporary. I was 12. The monorail ride was so short getting to the hotel from the MK that the parents would let us make the loop since the Monorail was a ride on the order of Grand Prix Raceway in terms of excitement to us kids Back then Disney got its power from FPL and a lightning stike wiped out the power for almost 2 hours. The rain was pouring and the tunnel that separates Bay Lake from the & Seas Lagoon flooded. I remember because we could see it from the stranded monorail. In those days the monorail had small windows that would open. It started to get hot and the windows fogged completely. On battey power the monorail pilot gave us running updates on the progress towards getting the power restored. Instead of finishing the loop we detrained at the Polynesian and boarded the train in the opposite direction back to the Contemporary. (Back then you could board trains going in two directions to the park, making all the stops instead of just the parking lot express to the TTC and the resort monorail. We got a free dinner that night at the hotel. I thought getting stuck was cool, being 12.
Got jammed on the Carousel of Progress one time as an adult while the soundtrack looped; "GE is proud to be a leader in advanced electronics" over and over again. After the third repeat the audience roared in laughter until the ride resumed about 10 minutes later. I have never heard such sustained spontanious laughter in my life. Every time it repeated the phrase people laughed harder. The best part was the CM at the end asking what everbody was laughing about.

We also got stuck in COP heard that song an extra three times. We kids were dieing. It's a great big beautiful tomorrow............

Let's see---our vehicle ALWAYS gets stuck at least once on Spaceship Earth.

We had trouble on Pirates once--boats keep bumping into each other.

Worst was when some idiot woman just got up and exited Carousel of Progress which screwed up the whole sequence and we were stuck for about 5 minutes. At least it wasn't Small World.

Back in '94 we were on BTMRR when it broke down. It was right at closing and we were the last ones, and it ended up breaking down! The train just stopped dead on the tracks. They had to let us out and walk us down.

About 20 years ago, I don't know what happened but we had to sit through the ENTIRE COP show twice! (And we almost had to do it a third time!) I'm not sure why we had to sit through the whole thing but I guess COP is on a pretty intricate system?

On one of our trips "the great movie ride" at MGM broke down, after sitting for what felt like hours, they had to come &escort us all off-not much fun after a 90min wait!!Also been stuck on Splash for 15 mins but they got that started again!
SD:cool:

I've only ever been stuck on the TTA! :) It was for about 10 minutes and we were stuck in the part where you go through Space Mountain, which was pretty cool! :)

Se, RUN the other way!! We ALWAYS get stopped in there, and not just the several minutes, "Please stay seated" spiel. 15-30 minutes!! And the talking never stops. (1/2 hr in front of the actors in ancient Rome!!) On one trip my DS (who were about 10 & 13, and the oldest recovering from a knee displacement!!) got stuck at the top of the ride. They had to walk down! Andrew said the steps are narrow and steep, he had to walk at the back of the line because he did steps slowly!!

So, if anyone ever sees our family going anywhere, I would not recommend following us!!! We call it the Ingersoll effect! No matter where we go, it gets really busy just after we get there!! Waitresses have been known to quit jobs on the spot when they see us!!!

We just got stuck on PotC 2 weeks ago today. It was near the jail cell where they keep whistling to the dog and we had to endure that for 25 minutes before a CM in rubber waders came by and pushed us backwards to the pillage and plunder area where we could get off and exit backstage. Was cool to see some of the operations of the ride including the circular track upon which two metal wheels rotated quickly, which we realized was the scene where the woman is chasing the pirate with a broom.

Wife, Son and I had Peter Pan at WDW and Roger Rabbits ride(Can't remember the full name) at Disney Land twice broke down on us last year. 4 Breakdowns in a 6 month span!

On PP we had to walk out from the last 1/3 of the ride and we were able see all the stuff that normally you can't see on the ride such as all the screens in front of and above most of the various scenes. I guess these are to catch things if people drop or throw (bad people) things at them. Also, there are lots of the usual pipes, cables and such painted black so they don't show up.

On Roger's ride, it was really frustrating because we were at the last set of doors before you get to the exit area. We could see the exit but could get to it until the CM's walked up people from the middle area of the ride to our area. Funny part was it happened twice to us. One of the times they said it was due to the system time out and shut down caused by a handicapped person not boarding a car fast enough. I've never heard of that happening, but it makes some sense. Maybe its a California thing.

We were on Peter Pan's Flight and got stuck in the part where Hook is yelling, "HELP ME MR. SMEE, HELP ME!" We were stuck right above that scene for a few minutes that seemed like eternity!! Needless to say, we had that phrase stuck in our heads the rest of the day
