Anyone ever able to get a room at checkin when the waitlist didn't work?

My parents are joining us last minute for part of our trip this month. So far I haven't been able to get them at the same resort as us on Sunday, November 21. I have them at OKW and then transferring over to SSR on the 22nd. I'm curious if anyone has been able to get a room at checkin without success from the waitlist?

There is no waitlist beginning 7 days prior to arrival. You can call each day and even multiply times a day. I have in the last year had an alternative place booked for a night and the waitlist ran out. I have twice been able to get the single night I was waitlisted for by calling the day or two before. Must be last minute cancellations. Once the room never came through. So - my advice, call that last week and try even at check in!!

We tried to extend our stay at OKW a few weeks ago. We were on the waitlist (to stay at ANY DVC resort, ANY size room) but nothing came through. We called every day while we are at OKW to see if we could get SOMETHING for the remainder of the week but nothing was available. We told them at OKW when we checked in that we wanted to extend and asked that they contact us if anything became available. When we woke on the day we were supposed to pack and leave, there was a message on our phone saying that we could stay in the room for the remainder of the week and we wouldn't need to move.

Does that story help you at all???

I was on the waitlist for our last night for our trip this past October... I called the day before and nothing had come in... but when we arrived, we were told we got it. The confirmation was at home when we returned.

I have been waiting to book my father's airfare because I am also waiting for a single night to open up an waitlist. So I waited, and the airfare went up, and up, and I finally bought it today (much higher than even a week ago). I figure Murphy and his stupid law will come in to play and now that he is leaving 12/12 that the final night won't come through and me and DH will sleep in the car!

I am going to call MS at the end of this week. When I called last time to check on alternatives, one of my nights was available. I wonder if it just popped up or if they were going to call me. Who knows? But it can't hurt to check one more time.
