I have been wanting to order some of those tatoo's (www.tattoos.org) for my son for our upcoming trip. The only thing that is keeping me from it is the glue. It says it is non-toxic but I am paranoid about it. Does anyone else worry about this or am I just being a worry wart??

It's medical-grade adhesive, like the glues used in hospital tape and adhesives for securing tubes, sensors, bandages and IVs, etc. to the skin. Very safe.

I ordered them and will use them. I know it is a medical adhesive, but I was hoping I could leave it on for a couple of days. They say to let skin breathe.

I left them on until they came off naturally with no problems, and my son has very sensitive skin. He didn't like me using the removal pads. The first one was legible for 4 days, then I put one on his other arm for the rest of the trip.

I think the skin breathing precaution is probably overstated, but that's just me.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to just order them. I think that is someone would have had issues with them, we would have heard about it on DIS.

is that really the link? it is in German (?) and i didn't see a chance to change it to english.

i tried "tattoos.com" and that came up with a site for what looked like real tattoo parlors/designs

i tried "tatoos.com"....THAT is x-rated...ooops.

thanks.

I hate to be an alarmist, but temperary tatoos scary me. When I was about 10 - 12 years old, children in the Vancouver (BC, Canada) area were dying from LSD tainted tatoos.

I NEVER allow my kids to put tatoos on their skin. They put them on binders instead.

If you are purchasing them from a reputable company, you are more than likely safe. I just strongly recommend being careful with tatoos from other sources.

Tottoos has a phone number posted, uses GoDaddy so I looked up her domain name registration and it has a legit address in the same city as the phone number, and she uses terms like "FDA Approved" which would be fraud and easily prosecuted if not true, and she advertises to schools, camps and churches. If there were any complaints or injuries I am sure her site would have been shut down at the very least due to a string of lawsuits.

Also the lsd laced temporary tattoos thing is an urban legend that has been circulated since the 70s. There has never been a verified case of such a temporary tattoo being found, let alone any verified deaths.

Urban legend or not, it caused a big enough panic in Surry BC in the early 80's to have the RCMP doing school assembly in the area and have our annual school picnic to Bear Creek Park cancelled.

For me I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's just another of those thinks I've taught my children, just like not taking candy from strangers, and not eating apples collected trick'o'treating.

The LSD scare that started in the 1970s was a total and complete urban legend. It never happened - not even one incident.

If you have taught your children to avoid the temporary tattoos, that's certainly fine. I've no problem with that. However, there is no reason to advise anyone to do so. No single child has ever been sickened, killed, etc. from a temporary tattoo. (You can file the stories about the LSD tattoo deaths in the same category as the stories about all the kids that exploded after mixing Pop Rocks candy with soda.)

The tattoos are totally harmless and safe fun. And, in this case, they are even serving a great purpose!
