I am obsessing, and I don't know why! LOL! we are planning to go to mine out in california next year. now, keep in mind the thing isn't even planned yet, there are no dates, I don't even know if there are people planning on planning it. I still can't stop thinking about it...I can't wait to go. and no, I have no interest in actually planning it...wouldn't be practical considering I live on the other side of the country.

I honestly think its more about dh and I getting away for a bit. we have a 2 year old and 5 month old twins...I guess I don't get out enough. thankfully DMIL has offered to babysit. see, here I go again planning. I won't even go into the side trip to DL that I am throwing in :)

any other 1985 grads?

LOL, I just got a letter reminding me I promised to help plan out 25th reunion. It will be here in a couple years. :earseek:

Have fun on your trip. :)

Next year would be mine, but haven't heard anything. Maybe I should check out classmates to see if anything is happening!

Have fun at yours:)

I just went to mine this year. I was reluctant to attend, but my friends talked me into it. For the most part, the women were better looking and the men were starting to lose their hair. The same groups of people hung out together so I hung out with my old friends which was really quite nice. I learned that the ones I had stayed in touch with were the ones with whom I had the most in common. I guess that's why I drifted apart from the others. Aside from my friends, the only other people I spoke with were those who had something to brag about and couldn't contain themselves. It was right out of Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. I will not go to another reunion but I'm kind of glad I went to this one. Have fun at yours.

I went to mine in July. Even my DH had a good time. It was a lot better than the 10 year. It was kind of uncomfortable at first, but when everyone sat down at dinner, the class pres put each person's senior picture on the big screen. (to my horror) Each person stood up and told about themselves. There was a lot of honesty and no bragging that I heard. People talked about their long marriages, mulitple marriages, children, lots of children, how many times they had changed their careers, etc. It was very nice. Yes, the guys commented on their loss of hair and the girls commented on their loss of "big" hair, it was entertaining. One guy who was considered "wild" talked about how his life had changed for the better, especially spiritually. After the slides and dinner, everyone mingled more freely and caught up on the past and what to look forward to in the future. I can't wait till my 25th.

Mine is in November, the day after Thanksgiving. Sorry, I'm not traveling up to NY during the busiest travel weekends of the year. I don't think my boss would like me taking off the busiest shopping w/e of the year, either! It's a shame, because some people I would like to see are going.

Go to yours, though. With three small ones, and a DMIL who's willing to watch them, you deserve the chance to catch up with your classmates and get some alone time with your DH.

I'm a 1986 grad, so mine is in two years, but if they have a reunion I probably won't go. I haven't gone to the ones they've already had. I don't know. I'm just a very different person than I was in high school, it was just a whole different world for me. That having been said, I met my best friend in high school so if she goes maybe I'll go with her.

But if you want to go, I say go for it!

Well, not my 20 year, but my 30th year reunion is next year though :(

I only went to the 5 year.

My 20 year was in NY so I didn't go but I understand 75 people came....out of 1,376!! I guess I wasn't the only one who couldn't come!

My 30 year was last year! Didn't hear a thing about it!

OMG, your class was 1,376!!!! mine was around 100. of course, this was a small catholic school, but still.

I haven't been to any of the other reunions, but for some reason I do want to go to this one. I've also checked out classmates.com and there are some people on there, but I'm too cheap to pay for the gold membership so don't really know what's going on with their lives, other than the fact 95% of them put their political views as liberal. :)

We just went to my DH's 20th this past weekend!

His class was about 650 - and there were about 40 classmates there Friday night for the cocktail reception, and about 70 there Saturday night for the dinner. My DH was good friends with the class president - and he was really disappointed in the turnout, but we still had a good time.

DH said that none of the football players or cheerleaders were there - maybe they've changed a little?!? :)

Funny the comment about Romy & Michele's - there was even a girl there named Romy!!!

One girl was running around asking people if they remembered her. It was pretty sad. She talked to my DH, then she talked to the guy standing next to us, then she finally walked off in a huff saying, "Well, I guess I really made a big impression on you stupid people!!" She was just kidding ... it was pretty funny.

I was disappointed that the DJ didn't play more 80's music - I was looking forward to that...

But we all still had fun - I would definitely recommend that you go. Since email is so much more prevalent than it was even 10 years ago, it's easier to keep up with people, now. The organizers assembled a CD-Rom with everyone's email addresses (and snail mail), so we hope to reconnect with a lot of his old friends!

Have fun!

Class of 1985 here! I haven't heard any plans in the works for my reunion, they had a 10th, which I didn't make because I lived in Italy, so I assume they will have a 20th.

DH's 20th was two weeks ago, but because it was two days after we moved into our house and in NY we couldn't go, but some of his classmates did call from the party.

My DH just received a letter for his 20th - he went to an all boys catholic school. The idea being proposed is to get together in Vegas - no spouses! They are planning early cuz, the letter admits:

"It will take a year of pleading with your wife or significant other to let you go to Las Vegas with the boys."

I don't think a year is enough time! ;)
