Anyone else use sunless tanning lotion?

I am also looking into getting some sunless tanner before going on our trip. I hate to be pale, but don't want to go to a tanning salon either. Cause of the money and the danger. I went to one before getting married {10 years ago on August 6th} and that's when it was suppose to be alright and alot better and safer then the sun. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I am going to try some of the ones that were recommened.

I did read on a website somewhere that some people use those sponge paintbrushes that you can buy anywhere, in the paint section, to apply their self tanner. Don't know if that works, but wanted to pass it along.

Now for the stupid question, how do you apply it to your back so it looks natural? Do you have DH/DW come in and help or have you found something useful to help?

Another fan of the Coppertone Foam here! It gives a very slight tint to my skin (and I am quite pale), which I love for everyday, although I only use it every 3 to 4 days. I also keep the lotion on hand for times when I know I will be "in the spotlight". It give a somewhat deeper color that lasts for several days. I have tried the Coppertone tanning lotion that comes in the brown tube also, (don't know the exact name), but that always seems to break my skin out. I have extremely sensitive skin, so that is not too much of a surprise!! I can't use regular bar soap either. Anybody else have this problem??

I just ran across a new product on the telly. South Beach tanning sheets. You apply the damp "sheet" to your skin and the more sheets you use (apparently one sheet does entire body) the darker your tan. HAS ANYONE TRIED THESE? I am considering them, the add says you can use it on knees, etc. that you won't see weird lines, at all. But hey, that's what they say!!! Please PM me if you HAVE used it... I may order them.

Those sheets look interesting too.

What type of "exfoliating" does anyone use? I see that it is recommended on most of the product labels - but they didn't seem to guide me toward a particular type. What am I looking for?

I use one of those "puff" things and body wash that contains an exfolliant. Seems to work fine.

I just bought that new Build- A-Tan from Neutrogena. I'm very fair skined, fair haired, and have never had any luck with the sun. I burn, and even after that I'd never keep any color. I've tried versions from Avon, Mary Kay, and Banana Boat before, and never liked them too much.
The neutrogena is nice because the tone is so light. I've applied it twice today, and have a sun kissed tone to my legs (I only apply to legs, too scared to try my face) It looks pretty good!
I'd recomend this brand variety (it is a lotion) for anyone looking to try a self tanner, but not looking for drastic results. Being so fair, most brands look fake on my skin, but this is nice! You can apply more often to make it as dark as you'd like!

I really like the Lancome Self Tanner with SPF 15; I only use it on my legs since they are paler than the rest of me (pretty much the rest of me ;)). It looks very natural. I exfoliate (Buff Puff) & shave my legs. Then I put a bit of lotion and 10 sprays of the tanner in my hands, mix them together, and rub it on my legs. Sorry, maybe a little too much information.

Anyway, my bottle came with excellent instructions for a perfect application.

I've used the Neutrogena tanner, and while I love all thier other products, I've been very disappointed with the tanner. It looks orangey, and it seems to only "dye" my pores  . I know, very weird, but that's why I don't use it anymore. The money spent on the Lancome tanner is well worth it ::yes:: .

Hope this helps!

I will admit that nuetrogena gives a pretty tan but it rubs off on EVERYTHING!!! L'OREAL sublime gives a sublime tan and doesn't rub off on anything!::yes::

I didn't read through all the pages, so sorry if I am repeating.....

I just posted this same question and they told me to check out this thread. I, too, have had several cancer treatments and am tired of having "milk legs".

My questions for those of you who have used the self tanning products:

1. Do they all wash off with every shower and you have to keep replying them or do some last a few days?

2. Do they streak in salt or chlorinated water?

Thanks a bunch...

Cathy - during the summer I apply the Neutrogena on my legs just about every day, once in awhile I can skip. I found out on vacation that they really do expire. I had a bottle that expired last June and it didn't do much. When we were in Disney last August and I was in the pool every day I noticed the tanner wasn't sticking to my legs at all. I was pretty much washed out by the end of the 10 days, even though I reapplied every day. I put mine on after my AM shower, I have a bathrobe I wear that i don't care if it gets stained until I dry. It usually only takes a good 10 minutes for me to dry.
