Anyone else tired of all the whining and complaining?

:rotfl2::rotfl2:, Yep the super secret SSR owners phone number works really well.;);).

We've had 7 DVC stays since joining in Dec 2006, 5 at WDW and 2 at VB and are still very happy with our purchase. Looking forward to our 4th Thanksgiving at WDW this year, especially since we have a Grand Villa booked(via the regular MS phone line, right at 11 months 9am EST).

Sounds like you're going to have a fantastic Thanskgiving! Enjoy!

If people had not gone off the deep end in my thread we might have had a real discussion but people couldn't get past the SSR thing so they got defensive and kept dogpiling me.
Huh? Other people couldn't get past the SSR thing? Your very first paragraph, of your very first post in that thread, was:

I have been a dvc member for 8 years and now that saratoga springs has come around it seems like unless I book a vacation well in advance only OKW and SS are available. I always go in the off times and until SS was built I never had a problem booking a vacation even a couple of months out.

You, yourself, brought up the "SSR thing", so if you're looking for someone to blame for the tenor of that thread, perhaps you don't need to look too far afield.

Seems like lately this message board has been post after post with folks complaining about either DVC or WDW. If it's not free dining, it's not being able to get a reservation at 2 weeks (of course blaming all the SSR owners). If not poor housekeeping, it's poor bus service. It seems to go on and on. Frankly I'm really tired of it.

We have been DVC members six years now and I'm ever bit as happy with my DVC purchase as I was six years ago. We've had no room issues to speak of. Bus service has been fine with us. I know to make my reservations way ahead of time and when I try to make a reservation short term, I know if I don't get it, it's my fault. We don't eat a lot of TS meals and never do the dining plan because it's way too much food for us. Why pig out when on vacation when we don't do it at home? Anyway, I'm just wondering - is anyone else still happy? From posts on here, you'd never know it.

WOW! You must be my twin except we have owned for 11 years now and I have no complaints. :yay:

It's a well known fact that SSR owners can book at any DVC resort (not just SSR) at 11 mos. out and take the reservations out from under the rightful owners of the remaining DVC resorts ;) Didn't you get the special MS phone line for SSR owners? It opens up at 8:30 AM Eastern time, an hour before the main MS phone line opens up for everyone else. I use it all the time :dance3:

SSR members also kill kittens and pay with wooden nickels! :scared1:

I'm torn WPF,

I've been a complainer that last 5 months. I love my DVC but I do have to tell you IMO Disney is dropping the ball ALOT! If you're reading a lot of complaints thats an issue. One or two complaints you may be able to excuse but when you start to get post after post saying pretty much the same thing. Sorry, I want Disney to know.

Disney is so special to me, I've been going literally almost every year since 1990. and imo it always was the bar other vacation places aspire to, so it is very distressing when I go multiple times and the same issues are happening. that means it's endemic and serious.

Why shouldn't I expect a clean room? Yes, it should be dust free, yes I want the carpet clean. Sorry, call me a Diva but a layer off dust is unexceptable for a motel, heck if I'm going to accept it from Disney?

If people want to complain that is fine, it is part of human nature, what I have an issue with is people who post a complaint and expect all following posts on that thread agreeing with them and when everyone doens't agree with the complain they take a personal affront to it. Everyone has different opinions and are entitled to post them even if it isn't what the author of a certain thread wants to hear.

ita Brian ::yes::

btw, rowbear I've got that super secret number to the special MS phone line and I'm not even

an SSR owner :rotfl2:

Isn't there something ironic about complaining about complaining?

Exactly what I thought when I read the title! :thumbsup2 And still I came in to read the rest. ;)

Nothing is perfect every time and this is a place to talk about DVC. IMO it should be a place to talk about the good and the bad.

I remain free to determine how I view my own experience, what is acceptable to me and what I will do about it in the future. So no, I don't have a problem with the complaining threads and am happy enough with my DVC.

Yes, a person wants to gripe and then we get arguments back and forth about the validity of the gripe. We know that the original poster wants to vent about something that upset them, which is valid and true for the original poster. Most of us may have never experienced the partiular problem.

:thumbsup2 Just bought DVC, never done DVC....read the DIS boards (addicted), post comments, post threads, get questions answered, laugh hysterically at some of the complaints and answers(more sarcastic the better), wonder what else we do in our spare time, wonder if I will see a dust bunnie on my first trip to AKV, wonder if I will see a giraffe from our SV room, wonder if others are in their PJs reading this right now in NYC...wondering how in the hell DVC Mike keeps up with all his home resorts:confused3, wonder how Robo knows so much and responds so often when his little button isn't lit up while he is on line ( yeah I know we have the option of that not lighting up)...and yet I am here at 6:24 a.m., vacation from work reading a complaining about complaining about complaining thread...life is good and I know own a piece of the "cause' of all this talking and sharing. Have a great Fourth everyone!!:rolleyes1

Poor housekeeping and poor bus service are legit complaints... The lack of ADRs, Ressies, free dining is just annoying.

You know just because we have it better than some people or that overall Disney is a great experience doesn't mean we have to go all stepford over it. It is okay to be annoyed at some aspects and voice it because if enough people get together and voice it there may be change. It is not like one of robot Walts is going to track us down where we sleep.

It's the way you said it, not what you said. You came off very poorly in that thread.

We have had positive experiences on most all of our DVC vacations. The only concern we have is the upkeep of the older resorts. They really need to be updated and kept up to the original standards. Also, I think part of the problem is abuse by people staying at the resorts. I think this is true of most time shares. Other than the maintenance issues, I think things have improved, with more being offered than in the past.

I am surprised that folks find the "negativity" new.

IMHO, this has always been one of the most negative areas of the DIS (and actually one of the most negative Disney boards out there overall) There is a LARGE sense of "entitlement" on the DIS. (As in "we spent all that money and Disney OWES us more then the lodging we paid for")

When it gets to me, I just walk away. But I always assume there will be TONS of whining and complaining on here.

I da also been thinking that there has been an excessive amount of complaining and griping about things that were never guaranteed in the contracts I signed - lack of perks, free dining etc. I bought with the idea of prepaid rooms at a place we really like to visit. The thing I try to remember is that the people with bad experiences are most likely to post here and everywhere else they can and hopefully the good experiences which don't get reported outnumber the bad ones by about a thousand to one.

Yep. Disney has earned a well-deserved reputation of consistently providing excellent customer service. Yes, they aren't perfect and they make mistakes, but they do their best to attempt to correct them when they happen.

I don't think these boards are an accurate cross-section of the folks who visit Disney, or even the DVC membership. People on the boards are a bit more fanatical aboout Disney, and hold Disney to the highest standard - maybe an unrealistic standard.

I like seeing the complaints because it brings it to my attention and if I see it as a way to avoid a similar situation then the complaint was a service to me. In addition I enjoy seeing the feel good and BTW threads as well because it does the same for me as the complaints. Why reinvent the wheel?

It's like reading the paper, when I read or see an accident I tend to speed less. Maybe not similar but these thread are informational and a way for people to express themselves. My wife likes to only read them I on the other hand like to read and comment. In fact I sometimes only look for the complaints and issues that people have.

In short, thanks for starting the thread because your topic was worth responding back to!

I have to admit that I do spend time reading the negative threads, but I have NO complaints. DH and I bought two years ago and have been to WDW twice, HHI once, and ABD to Italy once since then. If we had not bought in we probably would not have had the vacation fun we have had since. We LOVE AKL savannah view rooms, had a fabulous time in Hilton Head (which we would not have even visited without the DVC resort to intice us), and spent our 40th wedding anniversary in Italy (where we had the time of our lives). We have never had a bad experience and have only good things to say about the employees and services at all of our resort stays. It is because of our DVC points that we are perpetually planning our next adventure. We are looking forward to our Dec. trip with our college son to see all the Christmas decorations and events. We also have 6 grandkids to share it with. Every hotel/resort has something to gripe about, but you just have to stay positive and focus on the good parts. You also have to ask for service if needed with a smile and polite request. If you expect to be treated with respect, you have to give it also. :goodvibes:goodvibes
