Anyone else think the 2021 resort prices are outrageous?

For us the most expensive part is the tickets, i dont mind staying off site we really get good deals on better properties. I have been staying onsite the last few trips mainly because I can pay for the whole vacation for $200 up front.

Everyone says they have priced themselves out but people are willing to pay and they are booking resorts so I am not so sure that theory is true. They have priced you out but obviously not others. It also makes DVC that much more attractive
I think that a lot of the people who are booking 2021 at rack rate are hoping that there will be discounts at some point, otherwise they can just cancel. Being able to book a $200 deposit basic package makes it easy.

For the the past several years they have increased the rates each and every year so the difference compared to 5 years ago is astonishing due to the compounding effect.

Even giving 25 percent off a highly inflated rack rate is still an expensive rate.

Prior to COVID, we used to stay off site about 80 percent of the time and had between 30 and 40 nights a year at or near Disney.

We are AP holders that live 7 hours away by car.

This exactly.
I have booked Pop for January (expensive) and April (more expensive). I'm hoping for a discount or at least the cheaper all stars opening.
I will not likely pay these "value" rates.

Personally, I think that just leads to disappointment! I book what we are comfortable at. Gran Destino was in line with 2020 rates, so we booked.

Sure, I would love a discount, but I'm not positive - with everything going on - that any discounts will be offered in 2021. I only see if it they are allowed to increase capacity by then.

Along those same lines, I'm happy to be booked and have park days booked for next spring. That way if capacity still stays the same as now (yeesh I hope not), I'm in baby!!!

Yup. Except I’m sure the renting points will go up as well.

If you are willing to risk a whole lot of cash with a broker who might be out of business in a few months.

Unfortunately proces will never go down as long as people keep booking. They are very good with determining that ceiling. The point about DVC is excellent as well. Price people out of typical stays to get them to spend money on their other cash cow!

We just postponed our August trip to 2021. It’s about $50 per night more. Hoping for a better deal later on but wanted to lock our spot in.

Though I think it depends on the time of year also. We were going to pick up our Sept/Oct ressie and move it over to next Spring, we booked with Rack Rates so no discount at all, and it was $400 more for just over 6 months later. Really wished they would have just let us keep the same rate, since it's likely they'll end up losing the whole reservation instead.

I think right now they don't WANT people coming....they want just enough to get some money in, but until there's an effective vaccine or this somehow extinguishes, more people = more problems. Granted I wasn't looking at the price tag because I had the refund of the trip we didn't get to take to apply to next year's trip.
This. We still have to pay off my daughter and niece's room and we added extra days. We are rebooked for June of 2021

Renting points comes with something like a 0.5% chance you'll lose all your money. Slightly higher if you rent in September during hurricane season. We are currently in month 4 of that 0.5%, but the fact that we had a park-closing pandemic this year doesn't mean that it's likely to happen again moving forward once this is all over. I'd rent points. But I can afford to risk $3000 to save $3000. I know others can't.

The All Stars, at least in 2019, were basically in line with their opening day prices when adjusted for inflation.

Pop and AoA, on the other hand, have seen the prices they charge increase substantially vs the rate of inflation for a number of years now. AoA LM should top out at $220 if they had inflation adjusted opening day prices.
