Anyone else think DisneyVisa card is a joke??

Not a joke here. You're not going to find too many cards that kick back more than 1 %. We don't keep any credit card debt, but we have used the card to buy any big purchases and then paid them off right away.

So far we have built up a $130 reward. I'm not going to cash it in until our Nov. trip. Then I can use it to treat for a couple splurges when we go with my parents.

We have a 2% no fee mastercard, but it tops out at $500 in rebates per year. When it hits the max we switch to our 1% Disney Visa. I suspect the 2% deal on the mastercard will go away some day. I don't think they offer that card any more.

We pay our cards off each month, never carry balances over. I bet we don't make much revenue for the credit card companies. That is probably why the interest rates are so high on those who carry balances.

I looked into the card when it was first released. It didn't seem to offer enough benefit to us to get one. We never bothered to apply.

I like the card. In the year I've had it, I've racked up over $400 rewards dollars. I was using a NW airlines Visa, with a big annual fee, and I racked up a ton of miles, and for the last two years they just sit there, because there is never a flight available for them. And my Disney Visa makes me smile when I use it, because I like the Mickey on it. I use mine for absolutely everything and pay it off every month.

What bothers me is when I signed up, I got in on a pin promo period and never got the pin. When I asked them why, they said I did not qualify. I asked why, they could not give me a reason. Never the less, I still have and use the card, but I pay it off every month.

We used it on our December trip to WDW but prior to that, we received a special offer to stay at the Disney resort at Hilton Head Island for a wonderfully low price. We took advantage & it was such a great experience. We got to stay in a 2 bedroom/2 bath "condo in the woods" as I called it (1200+ sq feet) for $99 per night. WOW! That alone was worth us having the card. I'm hoping for more specials like that. ::yes::

I doin't recall them touting it as anything more than a regular credit card where you'd get 1% back, with some occasional special offers. For us, we usually go to WDW at least a couple fo times a year, so we use it a lot and get a swipe card with whatever amount on it, which is nice. Last time I used it, we had $138.00, which bought me a nice little shopping spree at the World of Disney store in DD.

I'm happy with it.

Ericka...you are the only person I have heard of that has earned more Disney dollars that us, but we are close. We bought a new house last fall and put some major things like carpet on the card. Then, in December they had double points for Disney store purchases and we bought 6 7day PHP tickets (two of our kids count as adults so that was mega bucks!) We are going to WDW in 2 weeks and have gotten our Disney dollar cards which will pay for some meals, trinkets, and a pal Mickey! We can't wait!! We don't like to fly so airline points are no good for us. DH does get Amex points and we have gotten a few nice "prizes" from them.

We have had the Disney Visa since it came out, but we just switched to using the Costco Am Express (no fee).

We've used $99 in credit on the Disney card just at the Disney Store. We now have over $100 "sitting in the bank".

But, Costco gives back 1.5% based on usage if you pay off every month. They advertise 2%, but that's only if you carry a balance, and what's the point of that?!

Also, we spend a lot at Costco, we have an executive membership and now get 3.5% back on purchases there by using the card.

Due to family schedules, we won't be at WDW until 2006, we were planning for 2005. So, we switched to the Costco card.

The Disney card is fun, and probably a great deal if you go to the parks often.

We just received our rewards card in the mail yesterday. I think it's in the low"200" figure ($230ish). We'll use it on our upcoming Disneyland trip. It'll pay for meals & souvenirs. We pay it off every month & put all our purchases (big & small) on it.

So far - so good.

It never even seemed to be worth it. We never got one. I miss the Disney Club.

I haven't found a mileage card that has no annual fee. Most are $50.00 per year. Also, most don't offer a ticket till you spend $15000. If it takes you two years to earn a ticket, you're paying $100 in annual fees. If the "free" flight is valued under $250.00, your getting less then 1%.

The GM card rebate is great, provided you always want to buy or lease a GM product. What's unique about the GM card is the annual fee is given back when you redeem. In other words, $500 is the limit you can earn, but you actually get $539.00 annually.

The Disney card will stop being a bargain if they ever start charging an annual fee. At that point, I'd switch to a Discover card, that's 1% CASH.

So far I've earned $80 to go towards my tickets, and hope to earn a lot more before then. If you watch, you can get double points from Disney Store purchases sometimes. I like it better than my American Express card b/c I can use the points on Disney World. I do miss the Disney Club, but if they keep offering rates like the ones just released, it will be wonderful!!! They were much better than Disney Club rates and even better than AP rates. I'm hoping for those kind of rates for our December trip!!!

I have a TJX card which means that you get 5% of all your purchases at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, AJ Wright and Home Goods, as well as 1 percent of all other purchases, back in $10 gift certicates. Seeing that I shop at those stores frequently, I get quite a few of the certificates in the mail. :hyper:

I have a AAA Visa that gives me 5% cash back if I pay at the pump - considering we now have a SUV, it's been VERY handy. The Disney card had no benefit to us because we don't go there often enough, nor shop at the Disney Store. But we do have a Chrylser Visa that gives us a measly 0.5% toward my Sebring.

I just looked in "Current Offers" with my Disney Visa Card and I don't have any info about getting 2% back on purchases of $150 or more. I then called Customer Service to inquire about the offer and the rep was not aware of any offer like that. He put me on hold and checked with his supervisor and came back and said that noone was aware of any card members getting 2% back with the Disney Visa.

Did anyone get this offer in the mail? Does anyone have a phone number? Any info would be appreciated.

Jeanette

I have to say that I have been very happy with my Disney Visa. Between charging for work related expenses at my previous job and purchasing stuff for the wedding, I was able to earn a good bit of Disney reward dollars last year. I like the fact that you don't have to earn tons of reward points to redeem your points (like airline cards where you have to earn 25,000 whole points for a ticket). I have also been able to use the card for a great rate of $99 per night for a 2 BR villa at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Of course 1% isn't a huge reward percentage, but the cards I have seen that have a larger percentage have annual fees.

We have spent approx 3K on the card and have only accumulated 31 disney dollars......

Not worth it, cancelled last week.

I looked at my promos, and the HH deal I was offered was $149 for a 2 BR.

How do I get the $99 rate??
