Anyone else think Disney is getting Greedy?

If your listening Disney I would pay $300 at the drop of a hat for an unlimited no tier fast pass... Think of the amount of stuff you could ride/see in one day, time is money etc.

So would a lot of people at that price tag. That's why it would never happen:sad1:

Not if they sell too many of them. And just look at Disney's track record with "limited attendance" at the hard ticket parties.......

Hahaha... Well true. But I find this ironic that in a thread about Disney being too greedy, we're now debating that Disney may sell too many unlimited day fast passes for 300/person.

It's a robocoaster. Not new. The size is new - Forbidden Journey is the largest robocoaster, and the robotic arms move the cars along a track. But the technology was at least eight years old by the time FJ opened.
Nice try, but inaccurate and equivalent to saying the technology for 7DMT is over 100 years old.

Problem is with the amount of people who would pay it as well the FP line would become as long as the standby ride.

Oh and no human being would ever step foot inside Stitch again

I basically did this once, unfortunately on a make a wish trip for my step-son. It's great to skip lines and all, but even under happier circumstances would not be worth $300.00 IMO.

Quite funny to see people saying they would pay $300 unlimited FP, when so Universal is always ripped apart for their $100 (or free with resort stay) fast pass.

But anyway, I think the issue is people feel as if Disney is constantly raising prices without updating/maintaining the Orlando parks. Instead of creating extras to be paid for just put more money into upkeep/refurbishment & new attractions. I've spoken with quite a few diehard Disney fans that say they don't like the idea of paying more for the exact same rides/attractions they paid less for just a few years ago. Yes I know there is New Fantasyland & 7DMT but a lot people feel like that that was not worth the increase in ticket prices.

Once again someone has to argue look what is going on down the rode! OMG Universal is opening something every year.

I like Universal I really do. Yes maybe they have opened new rides every year but how many of those rides have been transplants or redesigns of existing technology? Minions is a new overlay of an existing attraction, Transforms was brought over and had a quick build time because they had already spent the years of testing and construction on the CA version. The only thing that has been kind of innovative is Forbidden Journey. Disney does the same thing and gets raked over the coals for it.

We just got a new coaster and all I hear is complaints from people that it is too short or too kiddy. Guess what it is a super advance family coaster it isn't meant to be super thrilling or long.
Please answer the question: what has Disney done in the last 5 years? Although you say Universal has done nothing but overlays, it's more than Disney has done in the last 5 years. Also, I don't think Hogwarts express or Diagon Alley would qualify as overlays.

I'm asking you, what new attractions can we look forward to at Disney?

Lol about the Stitch, I think the only people that step in that attraction now are either lost and confused or have never been to Magic Kingdom before.

True about the unlimited fastpass as mad at people will get for me saying this they would need to price such a service out of the general pup a reach. Higher upper middle class + only.

I can't tell you what you have to look forward to. Anything that hasn't been made public knowledge is confidential.

Disney has done the same as Universal. Outside of 7DMT we have gotten mostly transplants (Little Mermaid) or updates (Test Track, Dumbo, Barn Stormer). We have also gotten a new parade and several new meet and greets and that is just one park. Now Disney is working on 2 of the other 3.

It isn't a battle worth having though. I'm just tired of every time Disney tried to do anything someone has to come in with the well Uni is doing something even better argument.

Okay development started for Avatar land January 2014. Completion is supposed to be 2017. So in essence it's going to take them 3 years, which coincidentally is the same amount of time for them to build EPCOT.

Disney dud create animated movies. Until Snow White nobody thought an animated full length feature would sell. Animation had only been shorts up until that point.

Also Disney may not have made the "dark ride" but they invented the omnimover and animatronics.

Also what are people getting at that Disney isn't working on the other parks? We all know Pandora is coming to DAK with at least 2 new rides and a night time show. Also it is well known that something is going on at DHS there is just no announcement yet. I feel like the community burned Disney for announcing New Fantasyland in the planning stages that they learned their lesson and will try to take on Uni's approach of lets not say anything until it is 75% done that way we can say we built it fast and it is almost ready.
In point of fact, you were the one who mentioned universal in this post and I merely responded.

If there is demand, then the product will sell. If not, lower prices or discontinued. If people are buying the special events, then they feel they are getting value for THEIR money.

At this point for our family, with Disney, we no longer feel the vast majority of food served on property is worth our money. So, we now eat the majority of our meals OFF property. If this happens enough, Disney will either lower prices or raise quality. The flip side of course if people continue to purchase lousy food at inflated prices, Disney will keep the product the same. Simple really.

Disney isn't even close to having done the same as Universal over the past 5 years. Universal has created two brand new completely themed 'lands' within their parks, each with brand new attractions based on cutting edge technology, an innovative transportation ride between the two parks, built a brand new coaster, did an significant update to an existing attraction to create Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and built a version of the Transformers attraction.

Plus everything they did around the Simpsons ride.

I'm not defending Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in any aay. Simply disputing the assertion that Forbidden Journey is more than just "kind of innovative".

Forbidden Journey is way more than just "kind of innovative". That's not even something that is a matter of opinion or disputable. Saying otherwise is just plain wrong.

6 nights at BLT = $4710
Airfare for 5 = $3130
5 day hopper = $1917
4 character meals at $270/each = $1,080

So that's 10,800+ factor in another $1000 or so for meals for 5 people. So maybe we're going over the top on character meals, and maybe we wanted to stay at a deluxe resort because this was a once in a lifetime trip. But no I hardly think we are being excessive, we planned this trip from 3 years ago when my Mom first got sick and started saving then so she could see her grandson's first Disney experience before she passed away. But truly thanks to everyone who has **** on me in this thread for saying I would hope to have an all inclusive trip at that price, you are wonderful people.

I've done the math 5 times. the way I compute, you are spending $785 a night???? wow... to stay at BLT? we stayed there, renting points, for , well I don't want to tell you. but we ahve had just as great a trip staying at the moderate resorts. but even if you want to stay deluxe.. $785 a night? tell me I am wrong here. I would love to be embarrassed that my math was wrong. grand villa maybe? for 5 people? I am flummoxed.

If you aren't planning a trip, then why are you hanging out on a Disney planning board?

:rotfl:

Sorry. I just thought I'd cut to the chase. :lmao:

because many of us had made friends on this board and just love hanging around.( just had a dis meet in the suburbs of chicago, with dissers from canada and Indiana)and if we aren't planning a trip, like to keep current on what's going on.

Since when is currently planning a Disney trip a requirement for posting here?

:sad2:

:thumbsup2
