It seems like everyday some new adventure pops up for Disney. I think it is getting out of hand. I understand the party tickets for Halloween and Christmas. But you can now get glorified FP's for you family for 300 bucks each, see Frozen characters for 60/35 buck per person. I know people will pay for this stuff, or they would not offer it, but when you pay 100 to get into a park, it hurts a little to have to pay more to get the ultimate experience. I know several families that are going to Florida and only getting to do Disney for a day, because of the cost. It just seems like they are nickel and dimeing people every chance they get. what happened to buying a ticket and having it cover everything?

I'm not saying that I agree or disagree wiht you - but haven't heard anything about the $300 fastpasses or the paid meet/great with Elsa/Anna... where can i learn more about that?

huh? you do realize that Disney is a business... and their main objective is to make money, right?

Disney's vision and mission may be changing with the times and capitalizing on what customers want but that's no different than ANY other business out there.

You, as the customer, have a choice! And that is the beauty of it... YOU can decide whether or not you pay for those items... Disney does not put a gun to your head :)

If you have a hard time not buying items Disney puts forth, that is an issue you need to manage yourself, not blame Disney!

If Disney's customer's have a change in heart and don't slurp up all the goodies at the price they charge, then Disney will change but for the most part, Disney's customer's are loyal brand users. If you don't like it, don't be a part of it :) it's really that easy...

And if the argument is about children... as parents, you need to encourage thinking outside the box and allow for your children to NOT always get what they want.... entitlement isn't a nice quality

It's good business. People are paying so they are creating more. They have had VIP tours and behind the scene tours forever, not sure why this is so much different.

This actually isn't anything new at all. From day one of Disneyland the people who could pay more were treated much better than the people who could not. Walt wanted everyone to be able to come into the park thus the rather small entry fee but to ride rides you had to buy a book of tickets and each ride had a monetary value. E tickets were the most and the best rides. I'm sure a lot of little kids went to DL in the beginning and were told by their parents sorry you only get 2 E tickets but here are a bunch of the cheap ones.

There have also always been concierge service and park tours. They just weren't as public as the internet age allows. If you could pay the money Disney including Walt would gladly take it and give you an experience worth that amount.

Either way, you WOULD have to pay more for the ultimate experience. If these experiences were part of the general admission price, the cost of general admission would go up.

I'm fine with them being premium events.

They are a business...

And people are buying into all of it...

I personally will not buy all the extras...Thr only thing I might ever buy into is thr snorkeling in Epcot or maybe the the additional safari/behind the scenes at AK.

But it isn't just Disney it's everywhere and doing most everything...As my husband would say, "if you wanna play, you gotta pay" .

If you don't want to pay for the ultimate experience you do not have to because you don't need it. You will just have to wait a little longer than those who did if you want something like a prime parade viewing spot.

you do realize that the Frozen package does not include a meet and greet with the characters.

I agree that Disney is getting greedy, but there are people out there willing to pay. If there wasn't, disney wouldn't do it :confused3

I feel like the links provided explained more detail than the op, and actually have more to them than what op said.

The "meeting anna & elsa" isn't just that, you have reserved seating for a variety of shows and events during the Frozen celebration, and if it's anything like the sww package they provide free desserts and drinks including alcoholic ones...that's pretty worth it to me....

As for the VIP tours, it looks like that would probably be worth the cost through being able to ride headliners in multiple parks, plus a table service meal, and transportation between each of the parks (i doubt you'd be on the regular busses for that) not to mention you have a personal guide with you for the whole day and you'd probably also be getting tidbits of trivia & information throughout the day as well.

And if people are going to pay for it, they'll charge for it!

Actually, it was kind of the opposite. At the time, carnivals and amusement parks didn't have admission fees but instead just sold tickets for the rides. Walt felt that this encouraged troublemakers to just come to these places to hang out and cause problems, so he decided to charge an admission fee in addition to selling tickets for the rides. I assume he figured that most people wouldn't want to pay a fee just to enter and hang out and not ride rides.

Hate to say this.

But is there really any new ground to cover here? Disney forums since 1988 (fla.rec.disneyworld, I think that was the local usenet group I use to post to .. something like that anyway.) Have been complaining about prices.

Everyone has their limits, and every time a few people stop doing things. Like I use to go at least 3 times a year to Hard ticket events. Halloween, Christmas, and P-Cubed (some trips I would even goto multiple parties). Once they his $40 per night for the tickets, and stopped a few things that I enjoyed I said "hey that is enough." I've not been to the Christmas party since they stopped Mickey reading "A visit from st nick."

Thanks for the clarification. I had assumed all fairs charged entry fee kind of like the local fair did where I grew up. So it goes even further than I thought that it has been this way since day 1.

Disney is a business yes. But it seems lately they are becoming just like other theme parks.

You want there, pay us. You want to buy this merchandise early, Pay us. More parties and also higher ticket prices.

I won't be paying but other guests will. It does seem greedy to me but I know I am in the minority.

Your talking extras though what can't you do for the price of a ticket? Nevermind a few people commented and I think I understand more now.
