Anyone else teetotal?

I abstain because my meds and alcohol don't mix. I have to admit the only thing I miss is that glass of wine with dinner.

I was raised Southern Baptist. Neither of my parents has ever had a drink which makes sense, because both of their fathers were alcoholics, which made for poverty stricken and miserable childhoods for them. I, however, am happier as a Presbyterian...I really don't think the Bible says you CAN'T drink.

Anyway, I drink very very little. In college, we were really living on the wild side when four of us shared one bottle of wine on a Saturday night. I hate beer and most mixed drinks. I admit, however, that after being down here in Texas for 23 years, a margerita on the rocks with salt really hits the spot on a hot day. And I also admit that I have gotten through quite a few work related cocktail parties with the help of a glass of wine.

When I was growing up (60s and 70s) my parents were very defensive about not drinking and felt alienated ay many social events. Now LOTS of people don't drink for many reasons, which is a lot nicer for everyone.

No drinking for me....but I did make a cake that called for a bit of Amaretto.. Does that count against me?

If it does than count me out. I put kahlua in brownies!

not me, I very much enjoy cocktails and wine. not exceptionally crazy about beer, though. I prefer cider. I love a local brand -Dicken's cider. Especially cranberry cider :) and I usually have a glass of wine with dinner most nights.

Rarely. I can't even remember the last drink I had--probably a year ago or so. Canadian Mist and Coke is my drink of choice. My taste buds love it.:p But, I also realize I have an addictive personality And had an grandfather who was an alcoholic--who ruined a lot of lives--so I really drink very little and have never gotten drunk. I don't know, someone mentioned Baptist vs. Presbyterian-drinking/nondrinking...I'm Baptist and don't think I'm breaking some Baptist law, am I?

On occasion, I'll have a "foofy" (my DH's term) frothy drink (ie-pina colada, strawberry daiquiri). But I am not a fan of beer, wine, or mixed drinks, in general.

And quite frankly, if for some reason I wcould never have another alcoholic drink, it wouldn't even remotely affect my life.

I am in my mid-thirties and never had a single alcoholic drink in my entire life. I never touched the stuff, ever. I drink mainly bottled water nowadays (since I have ceramic braces and don't want to stain them!!!) but I will have an occasional root beer! :) One of my grandfathers drank heavily and died of chirosis (sp?) of the liver. So my mom saw what drinking did to him, and never allowed any alcohol in our house growing up.

Sad thing is, the town I am from has MAJOR problems with teenager drinking. I live in one of those areas where all the rich kids have "nothing to do" but get drunk any chance they get. But me and my brother and sisters never gave into that lifestyle, thank goodness! :)

Never ever drank much. I think maybe two nights in my entire life I had ebnough for a buzz. Once because of shooters, and once because I liked every flavor of Margarita they had there. I remember doing the Chicken Dance that night. Anyway...
I don't drink at all now.. I don't have anything against it, but I don't buy alcohol for home (I'm broke enough, thanks) and don't drink when I'm out (3 small children, I'm not driving with even a DROP of alcohol in my system).

I would like to get the occasional Amaretto Sour from the Outback, though.

That's amazing! And bravo to you!

I could smell it from a half a block away and get tipsy. No thanks- I don't enjoy the out of control feeling I get when I visit my parents so why should I seek that out?:earseek:

Pretty much. I might have a glass of wine or two at Christmas time. Really don't like the taste of beer or anything else. I would just as soon have a glass of iced tea or 7up. My DH is about the same. We had our days - long, long ago. It didn't take long to figure out we didn't care for it. Life is too short and there's too much to enjoy to spend it zoned out or with a hangover!:)

I drink very rarely-once a year at my husband's firefighter dinner dance I'll have a few Malibu Baybreezes..and if we go to a wedding, that's usually it.
I had a strawberry daiquiri at a restaurant a couple weeks ago-can't remember the last time I did that!
My husband drinks as often as I do.
We *never* have alcohol in the house, not that I'm against it-we'd just rather have water/soda/iced tea..and we both hate the taste of wine and beer, so there's no need.

Umm, according to your profile you are 19 years old. How much drinking could you have really done?
For me, I did most of the drinking in my life at 17,18..as did most everyone else I know. High school/college-parties every weekend..
