Anyone else surprising the kids and about to burst?

We are suprising our boys (2 & 4) with the trip. We only planned it about 3 weeks ago, but as it was getting closer it was getting harder. The good thing is we are only hours away and they have not caught on yet. We packed in secrect and being fall here now they don't miss their winter clothes. We will pick them up at daycare and head to the airport.

This is how we plan to do it next time... and I can see from everyone's posts here it is going to be extremely difficult. I am the "OG" Disney fanatic in my family.

When we brought my DS(.7months) and DD(3.5) this past August, I couldn't stop talking about it. MY DS didn't know what was going on, but my DD(3.5) knew we were going and I'd come home everynight from work and we'd dance together and watch the Disney planning movie saying, "we're going to Disney, we're going to Disney.."

I'm the little kid (31) when it comes to Disney in my family.

I told my wife that we needed to keep it a secret the next time. She will be able to do it easily, but not me......

I can't wait to see the look on my children's faces. It's some time away but I'm cracking in anticipation already.

We just got back last week and did the same thing. Our five year old thought he was going to school...but as we were getting ready to get him dressed, we pulled out his mouseears from a previous trip and told him the news!

Words cannot express just how excited he was!!! Our 21 month old had no clue what was going on, but they were both running around the house going crazy!! Then my five year old went running outside to tell anyone he saw! Thankfully, most of our neighbors already knew and were just as excited for him!

It was by far the best secret I have ever kept!!! Everytime you are about to burst, just think of the looks on their faces when they find out!!!

Good luck and have a great trip!

Change the 31 to 35 & that's me.

POOH&PIGLET,

Do you ever get strange looks or reactions from people when they find that out about you? When my wife tells people about me and that I plan the trips, ps's, etc., they have a look in disbelief like "You're a 31 year old man, how is it that you are like that?"

I honestly don't care, but curious if you receive a similar reaction...

We just got back from our surprise trip to celebrate our ds 6th birthday. I made reservations back in April and only our close family knew for months. Then I told ds teacher on the first day of school, then Sunday school teachers right before we left. We left on Nov 5 when he got off the bus from school. We just said lets go for a drive. We drove for an hour and a half and he was tired. We finally had to tell him we were going to FL to visit his cousins. He'd never been to FL before. Then he was excited. We got there Sat and no one told him about our Disney trip. We left Mon morning and drove about 2 hours before he asked when we were getting to his cousin's soccer game. We said in a little while. He had absolutely no idea where we were going until we pulled through the AK resort gates. We told him to read the signs and the look on his face was priceless!! It was definitely worth the months of secrecy.

DH has a convention at the end of January at CSR. The kids know that we are all going to the convention but they don't know where the convention is at yet. Christmas Eve while we are at my ILS they will unwrap their park passes and find out that we are going back to Disney! We went on our first trip in September 2003, and we loved it. DH could not go to Disney while the rest of us stayed home! They will not find out that they will get to go on their first plane ride until we park at the airport! I can't wait to see their faces. DS 7 has been going on and on about how he would like to fly in an airplane. I am so excited I might burst!

Another one about to burst here!!! :teeth: I've been planning this surprise trip for over 10 months and we tell the girls the night before Thanksgiving! I can't wait!!!

What my entire family doesn't know is that I've got some more surprises up my sleeve, the big one being a special event from Gifts of a Lifetime. I can't wait!!!!

:sunny:

I just surprised my DS6 with a mommy/son trip in October. We told him we were going to pick up one of my husbamd's work colleagues from the airport. He loves to watch the planes, so he jumped at the chance to join us on the ride. When we got to the airport and headed inside (without the luggage) I stopped..Oh darn, I forgot something in the car!! I went to the car and gave him a card that said..."In a few hours(outside)...you will be in Disney World!"(inside). THat was the first magical moment of many on our trip! The look on his face was truly a priceless moment.

Yes, I was ready to burst! I wanted to scream all the way to the airport I was so excited...but, BOY was it worth the wait!

Have a magical vacation!!

Thank you all so much!! It's nice to know there are other people feeling the same way.

I'm not surprising the kids. The surprise was supposed to be for me, but DH had to let me in oon the details. We still haven't told the kids that we are going to disney the week before Christmas. I am bursting to tell them, but on the Saturday we leave, we're just going to wake them up and then tell them, well hurry up and get dressed because we are going to Disney. We are leaving like at 5 in the morning, they will hardly believe it:teeth:

We're taking our children (18,14,12,9) over the Christmas holidays. All we have told them is that they are only getting "1"
gift from Santa this year- "1" gift they have to share!

I bought a My Pal Mickey. I'll put him in a huge fridge box and that
is what they will open Christmas morning. They will then be told
to go pack as we're leaving in the morning.
:bounce:

Welcome to the DIS Boards!!!

You can love Disney and Cornell Hockey all at once...Go RED!!!

My family is used to it by now. They actually call me for advice, tips, etc. Co-workers don't get it though. They chuckle when they hear I'm going back to the world. I could care less.
