We just got back today from our long drive from Disney.
we had our last park day on Sunday 8/17.
(We were supposed to leave that AM but extended our stay for that day to have night at MK. Last minute trip for us so no advance planning. )
Sat AM in resort they did not have new park times guides out.
Don't flame me: I know I should have checked again.
But who would dream the MK would close at 8 PM in the middle of summer???
We got to MK at 7:30 PM Sunday nite after dinner at Ohana and a long rest at our resort planning to see fireworks.
The security guard at the entrance was EXTREMELY RUDE to us. He said " i dont know why you want to go in we close at 8" when we voiced our disbelief he said "People need to keep up with what Disney is doing" in a really snotty voice. (In his defense, he was probably getting that alot because no one seemed to know it closed at 8 PM EVEN the CM's were shocked that it was closing so early!!)

We ran ran ran for one last ride together on Splash Mountain! it was a great way to end, but we were really disappointed about missing fireworks.
One CM said it was because school started in FL but then why were MK hours on Monday till 11 PM???
We stayed and took lots of castle pictures and shopped alot. Even the CM's in the shops could not believe it was closing so early!! We made the best of it and still really enjoyed our nite but i overheard a lot of unhappy people!!!

I don't know if the hours were posted on website or not, because I only looked thru Saturday since we were supposed to leave.
It was great trip and I will post report later. Need a nap after all of that driving!!

Believe it or not, Sunday is actually a slow day at MK. Know what's the busiest day? Monday! I'll tell you why. You see, most people who visit WDW from far away do all their traveling over the weekend. And what's the first park they want to visit for their first full day after they've arrived? MK of course.

Since I'm leaving tomorrow night, I'm trying REALLY hard to be accepting of the hours we've been given - but I know what you mean. 8:00 is very early, and there's nothing better than being in the MK after dark. It's really when you feel the magic. What's worse is only having one Spectromagic during your 7 day stay. It would be nice to have a choice of when to see it, or maybe even (gasp!) be able to see it twice, but I guess it's all out of our hands and we must schedule ourselves to death so we don't miss anything. ;)

That was the only disappointment on our trip. I've always enjoyed MK after dark and it closed at 7 pm virtually every night, even Memorial day. The did have two E-ride nights but we didn't do those.
