Anyone else seen the NEW nickle??

I got change this morning..........and there is a new nickle! At first I thought it was maybe a Canadian coin, then upon further inspection I saw United States of America. It says Lousiana Purchase 1803 on the back, has a pipe and axe in a criss-cross, and has a picture of two hands shaking. Kinda cool!!!

I got one a couple of weeks ago. I didn't even know a new one was coming out.

It's only out for a short time. We found out about when we visited Monticello this past summer. This is the anniversary of the Louis and Clark Expedition and because Thomas Jefferson was so involved in the expedition that is why they changed the nickel.

Also throughout the year (maybe year and a half) each state that was involved in the expedition is suppose to have various items throughout the state coming for "viewing" - like at museums. There was a lot of stuff on display and a lot put into the tour at Monticello. It was very interesting.

I was shocked the first time I broke open a new roll of nickels in the cash drawer at work and they looked different.

I didn't know that there was a new nickle at all either My mom just told me when I asked her if she knew there was a new sort of nickle out.

I had one a number of week ago. I thought I stumbled on a new quarter, until I looked more closely and saw that is was 5 cents.

A co-worker called the bank to see when they came out (he thought it was a fake!), and they said they were released about a month ago!

I saw it for the first time last week when we were in WDW.

I found one in my wallet the other day and for a second thought it was a coin minted in 1803 .
