It does make me a little nervous. You know they are going to do something because of this. Our trip is in 10 days.
I also want to thank the men and women who made this possible. Great job troops!!!!!

Nope... can't waste time being scared of anything. (My husband I work across the street from Ground Zero.)

I could be wrong but I don't know if they'd be able to get something together in the next 10 days. Don't forget, security will be extra tight right now in anticipation of a retaliation.

What I'm worried about.... I was planning a week-long trip to NYC in late June or mid-July. I'm not too sure if I want to be in the city for the next few months now....

Yes. My first reaction was fear, not joy last night when the news broke. The news brought back many, many awful memories of 9/11. It was like living it all over again. I feel there will be retaliation not necessarily from al qeda but crazy wanna be crack pots. Something will happen I am sure of that, now we just wait to see what it is. I am glad I no longer work in NYC I am not sure I could really get on a train and go into the city anytime soon. Was planning on booking FD today but I am thinking twice about flying with the kids. Yet, I had no problem at all going in to NYC or flying right after 9/11. But I am nervous now.

I get on a plane for WDW in 9 days and I'll board with as much happiness and excitement as I always do.

The way I look at it is this: there is a better chance that the plane doesn't get hijacked than that it does, so I've got the odds in my favor.

And if my number comes up in nine days, that's just the way it is. It's going to come up someday anyway, it'll just be a little sooner than expected, that's all. ;)

Some of us live here. It's okay. :)

NOt worried at all. I will not let them win by making fear a part of my life.

THIS! :thumbsup2 I booked a trip to DisneyWorld on 9/12/2001. Was I nervous? Yes. (Mostly because of the troops with submachine guns in MCO). Did I let it spoil my trip or keep me from traveling? No. Right after 9/11, one of my thoughts was "I'm glad I didn't book the WDW trip I was planning yet!" Then the next thought was. "NO! Then they win." So I booked.

Sayhello

No not at all. I flew a couple weeks after 9/11. It was surreal seeing troops in the airports, but they wanted fear to cripple us and I was not going to give them that satisfaction and I still won't.

Well said!! Please don't be afraid to fly. We only live one life and it makes no sense to spend it fretting about things. Please enjoy your life - it's the only one you get!!

I wouldn't be scared to travel to NYC in June or July because of terrisom the federal gov dosnet wan anything happening again in ny so they will be on top of everything. My mother works for the federal gov in NYC an takes the train in everyday and rides the subway or walk or if it nice she walks to work she wouldn't do it if she didn't feel safe. Don't be affraid to travel just be more aware of your surroundings and report anything you think is suspicious to the police.

Nope - this makes me feel even more secure knowing how amazing America's intelligence is - I mean, they found the ONE person, who didn't want to be found, off the grid, hiding somewhere on the planet. I think our government probably knows know way more than we can ever imagine. Way to go!:thumbsup2

I'm not worried at all. I spend way too much time worrying about all the other things in my life. I'd rather not worry while traveling to the happiest place on Earth :goodvibes

I"m a very nervous flier in general and have always been scared, I am not more afraid now than I was before. I found that taking my Unofficial Guide to WDW on the plane to read kept me focused on getting to my happy destination and was a great distraction to keep me seated and less fearful. LOL, I did grab DH's knee, or arm several times as I felt the engines rev up and we started lifting off and it got that floaty feeling. I have little goals and rewards I set for myself for flying. Like getting my Starbuck's coffee beverage, my potato and egg tacos, or artichoke spinach dip. I get my coffee and tacos in Houston and that is my transfer point so I get my little reward for getting there and then of course, landing at MCO well the reward there is "I'm at WDW!" Yeah, even at the airport I still feel like I am officially at WDW because those are the first signs you see with Mickey for the Magical Express. On the way home, I get spinach dip at Friday's or Ruby Tuesday's at the airport and then we're home again and I am always happy to get my feet back on the ground. Flying has always scared me and I have motion sensitivity issues as well so I panic (inside) all the time and listen to every little sound a plane makes. At least I stopped freaking out when they cut the engines and drop the landing gear now. :rolleyes1
Now maybe if I were flying elsewhere than MCO, I might be a bit nervous about retaliation. I'm just not seeing WDW as a potential targeted area.

I wouldn't be scared to fly right now in the US. They have been trying to hit us again for the last almost ten years and they have not succeeded... The death of their figurehead leader will not make them more capable, and they may be more motivated, but not more competent...

I am more worried about them hitting American interests overseas. But still not very worried.

But please be sure to pray for our people in other parts of the world. The diplomatic community especially! They are in some really bad places, trying to keep these things from happening!

We are flying next Tuesday out of Newark. I'm sure security will be extra tight. Looks like we should probably get there an extra hour early.

The risks are absolutely tiny statistically! Your drive to the airport in your car is far more risky than flying will ever be! The policemen and troops do their job well. You should only worry about things you can actually control. (coming from an former agoraphobic here it might be slightly hypocritical!)

Have a fantastic trip, and think magical thoughts!
