Anyone else regret Chef Mickey's?

Nope! I love it, and I'm a foodie and a germaphobe!

Breakfast is better though, I wouldn't do dinner for the food alone.

We went for the first time in 2006 and loved it. Food and atmosphere were great so when we booked in 2011 it was at the top of our list. Like OP we waited for quite a while with an ADR and were seated in a back corner. All the characters visited but we didn't see the napkin swinging. Seriously considering skipping it on our next trip.

We enjoyed it, no regrets, but we only did the breakfast though. Kids loved the atmosphere, characters, and napkin waving parade was fun! But it was a first trip, must do type of thing so we are looking forward to other meals on our next trip. Chef Mickey is too expensive!

The mixed reviews for CM have me nervous, but that's the only character meal I could find that had Mickey, Minnie and Pluto. Donald and Goofy are a bonus.

Before our last trip we have eaten there once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both times the food was not good and the service was sub-par if that. We also felt that the characters were rushed there, after our second time we decided that that was enough, we could do other character meals with better character interaction and food. Now fast forward to when our 180 days were approaching (we were there end of Aug/beginning of Sept of this year), we were trying to decide on one more TS meal. Both of my girls wanted to go back to CM for breakfast, while DH and I were hesitant about it and tried to offer other suggestions (which didn't work), we finally gave in and made a breakfast ADR for our departure day (we were staying at BLT anyways so it was easy for us to get to). Let's just say that our experience was nothing like it was the previous 2 times. Our server actually existed throughout our meal by keeping our drinks full and my coffee poured, she even cleared our table of the dirty dishes after we were done with them. The food was also very good too, everything was so fresh and hot. As for the character interaction, I wouldn't say it was the best of our trip, but we had a great time visiting with Mickey and the gang. After this past experience, we would consider going back again :goodvibes.

We went to CM for the dinner buffet last May...Our kids were 2, 6 and 8....all boys. To this day even THEY remark that it was their worst meal out of the 6restaurants we went to...the characters are not memorable at all......just the poor food.

We have gone twice with our kids (breakfast one and dinner once) and really enjoyed it (been awhile though). Our kids actually thought it was a highlight of our last trip. Considering cancelling our Christmas week ADR, just due to not wanting to pay OOP and it is the day we are checking in (and may want to stay closer to our resort).

We like Chef Mickey simply because of the characters. The food is "okay" (we only do breakfast there) and it is very loud. We much prefer Tusker House and Ohana.

I've done both bfast & dinner here. Much prefer bfast but loved mine time here both visits. Sorry you had a bad experience!

I would not say I regret Chef Mickeys but we will never be back there. It was just me and mf DF and felt that the characters could not be bothered with us since we were 2 adults, plus the food is just eh. I would much rather go to Tusker house or Cape May where i feel the food is better and the character interaction MUCH better.

We ate at CM about 4 years ago - I was SO excited to go, since I had heard it was a "must do". We waited over an hour (with and ADR). For that reason alone, we have never been back.

We do love Disney's character breakfasts....we do one almost daily. My opinion is that there are so many other GREAT experiences for a character breakfast, that we don't waste our time of going to CM's.

Also, in case some people may not know, you can made a ADR for a character breatkfast IN a park prior to the park opening (say Crystal Palace at MK - for an 8 am breakfast - with a 9 am park opening)... and get to walk down Main Street almost by yourself!!! It's a GREAT photo opportunity as well! (and you can eat AND be IN the park for opening!!) :yay::yay::yay:

We planned our breakfast ADR at Crystal Palace at 8am on Oct 1st 2011, so looking forward to having main street practically to ourselves. Planned a great family picture in front of the castle, etc. However we completely forgot that it was the 40th Anniversary of Magic Kingdom. :confused3 Can you say HUGE mob of people waiting to get in the gates at 7:45am. So much for main street to ourselves. Just us and a couple thousand people who bought special passes to get into MK to buy limited edition souvenirs. :sad2: At least we got special 40th anniversary pins and brochures and it was fun to be there on such a special day in MK history. :cool1:

We had a great experience at CM the first time we went in 2006 but as my sister said earlier when we went in 2011 it was not as fun. We had to wait almost an hour to be seated and then we were squished in the very back corner of the restaurant, we couldn't see the characters doing any of the fun dances, could only hear the music start. The kids did get to meet the characters as they came to the table but the experience just wasn't as good as the first time we went. My DS always asks when we are going to eat dinner at CM again, I don't know if he really loved that Character Meal so much or if he just loves it so much cause it was his very first character meal, the night we arrived in Disney for his very first time there ever . pixiedust:

Worse meal in Disney!! I have regretted the three times we ate there and unless there is some drastic change it will be a long long time before we ever eat there again.

It used to be a "must-do" on every trip of ours but 2 years ago was the last straw and it's safe to say we won't be returning anytime soon. The food was barely edible and just NOT good - we found much better alternatives for character interaction.

The first time we went in 1999, our dinner at CM was one of my favorite Disney meals of all time. Not only were the characters a blast with my then 2 year-old, but the food was excellent too. Prime rib, awesome mashed potatoes, and the desserts were incredible.

It went down in quality every visit since then, and now we don't even bother. It's a shame that the quality didn't last. We passed the need to dine with characters, but if the food was as good as it was, we'd still go.

I love Chef Mickey's for breakfast, but I don't see us returning for dinner any time soon. I can't say I regret it (beyond the food I consumed) since it did have some pros for us...we ate there on nt 1 of our girls' first trip to the world. We were cold, exhausted and I wanted them to meet "the mouse" on day 1 in a fairly stress free manner. So, the meal served its purpose. The food was the only part that let us down...well, that and our server highly recommending some slow roasted nightmare that still makes me feel a bit green. :crazy2:
