Anyone else receive park hoppers in form of a wrist band rather than actual tickets?

On another board, someone just posted that their friend booked a Disneyland trip through a travel agent for the first week in December. She just got her package in, and the 3 day park hoppers were in the form of a wrist band. I know they have been talking about a wrist band, but didn't know they would start using it so soon. Wondering if anybody else has received a wrist band?

I haven't heard of it, but two thoughts pop into my head. First - cool, because that makes it almost impossible to lose your ticket. Second - that's gonna stink pulling FP because that means everyone in your entire party has to crowd around the FP machine. No sending a "runner" to get the FP.

If they are going to start using or testing the wrist bands in the next few weeks, I am surprised they have not made some sort of announcement about it. (Well, I guess someone did say they saw a tweet about it). Maybe this has to do with people saying fast pass enforcement will start the first week of December.
And wouldn't they have to do something to all the fast pass machines to deal with wrist bands or maybe they already have?

Seems like I heard they were going to start testing these. But our tickets arrived last week for Nov 24-30 and they are the plastic card ones.

The person who got them is going the first week of December, so maybe that is when it will start. Or they just didn't choose you as a guinea pig. :)

Got my package today for 12-5 thru 12-10... regular plastic tickets. I did hear about the wristband thing and thought they would be cool to have--we do all-inclusive vacays and the wrist bands don't bother us. I do like our plastic tickets though--and they were nice enough to send a different one for everyone in the group which is fun!

Since park hoppers are good for 13 days, if you skip days between going to Disneyland, do you still have to keep the wrist bands on? If they were easy to take on and off, then it would be too easy to transfer to another person. Unless they continue to ID everybody, even with the wrist bands.

as a parent I say yuck- between the pools and showers and general kid living they will be trashed by the second day- then what- new ones every other day? Also so many kids can't stand to wear them tight enough so that they don't come off, so then they will be playing with them and tugging on them and then it will be gone... I wore my universal pass on a lanyard around my neck all summer and had no issues- easy to swipe at food places, had my picture on it and connected to my finger print- fast and easy for me, for the park...seems Disney needs to update its thinking and its technology

I guess it depends on how the bracelet is made... the ones we get all all-inclusives still look brand new after 10 days of wearing... and dd gets used to them every time she has to wear it.

Danaesacto and CalvaryMike, haven't you stayed at any resorts in recent years? It seems like all resorts with water parks, etc require one so that they can ensure that only hotel guests are using the amenities. We stayed at two resorts in the last several months that required wearing a wristband for 4 days - Jellystone and Nickelodeon Suites. Neither time presented an issue for my then 4 year old. If your child is young enough for the wrist band to be a huge issue then they're probably too young to need a ticket anyway so no issue. And they don't get dirty or torn or anything - usually they're that hard plastic... Even the local community fitness center that has a play structure and splash pad requires the kids to wear a wristband for the play areas (which as I said includes swimming - this does not trash them) - my son still happily wants to go there every weekend that he can. Wristbands = no problem, seriously.

Some kids really do have a problem with the wristbands. DS has autism and has had issues in the past with them. Back when WDW did wristbands for Extra Magic Hours, I had to wear his and mine. It wasn't a big deal until Star Tours which he rides with dad. I did learn where the walk through is so it was actually a good thing :)

No resorts have been pretty much out of the question what with furloughs and job loss and all the recession stuff most of America has been living with... the ones at the local waterpark stretch out and are worthless by the end of the day. Many children are sensitive to the way things feel, I'm happy your child has no problems, but I just can't see this being the best way for everyone... jmo.

Got our tickets today from AAA plastic 5 day hoppy cards. I'm glad I don't like wristbands.

Oooh...that wouldn't work for me.I could deal with it during the day but I can't even wear my wedding ring or earrings to bed.:upsidedow

My DS will be two next week and can't stand to have anything on his wrist. He had surgery a few months ago. He absolutely lost it when the put the wrist band on. It was terrible especially since I was already worried about him going into surgery and now he's crying uncontrollably. Then a few weeks ago we went to an amusement park for a birthday. I had to go to the gate 3 times because he kept tearing it off. They finally gave him a hand stamp.

I also hope this isn't the direction Disney decides to go.

I hope this is just some weird anomaly I hate anything around my wrist...maybe I was handcuffed in a past life or something but those wristband things drive me crazy :crazy2:

I think the person was mistaken. Many travel agents are including in their packages "Strive Today Power Band ($30 value) for each adult 3-Day or longer discount Disneyland ticket included in your Disney package."
