I can not believe how out of shape I am. I know it has been a long time since I did any real exercise, but this is really sad. I get out of breath after less than 1 min of exercise. I am just taking it slow right now, and will hopefully be able to do 10 mins of Cardio some time in the near future.

Please tell me I am not the only one who started really out of shape!!

Christy

It does get better, you start out slow and work your way up. Do not over do in the beginning as you will get frustrated.
When I first started walking last May I got winded walking the block and a half from my car to the office. Now that is nothing to me, I can do the 2 mile and 3 mile WATP tape or a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes on the threadmill and feel great. Of course taking off the pounds as you go makes things go easier as well.
I have just started doing some firming and toning, and they are tough. But I am starting out doing it twice a week then I will move up to 3 times a week.
Be patient you will do fine

Oh Christy, I have been there, too! When I started exercising, I weighed 110 pounds more than I do now, and couldn't walk up the stairs or walk my son to the bus stop without being out of breath. I started slowly, and often got frustrated, but I just kept on going. Every week I noticed greater strength (even if it only came in small increments), my clothes started to get loose and the numbers on the scale went down (I was also eating sensibly and nutritiously). The best thing you can do for yourself is exercise within YOUR OWN fitness level--don't compare yourself to others. Slow down or modify your exercises so that your heart rate is up, but you're not so out of breath you can't hold a conversation. If you can only exercise a minute at a time--that's OK! Keep on working at it, and the next week, you'll do a few more minutes...then a few more! I never thought I'd be at the fitness level I am now. I now exercise 6x/week, 1-1.5 hours a day. Let me tell you Christy, all the hard work was worth it. We were all beginners once, and I understand how frustrating it can be! There are no quick fixes--work slowly and consistently, and you will see wonderful results! Good luck, Sweetie!

I'm in the same boat as you! I have been doing the Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile video, and it is hard! But I stick with it, and each time seems a little easier. A few years ago, I was walking two-miles every other day. But I stopped, gained more weight, and now can't imagine walking that! But I am determined to do it!

We went to WDW in January, and I was just exhausted from walking the parks - totally depressing! But you can only get better gradually. Good luck!

Thank you all for the encourgment. I know it will get better, I was just shocked how quickly I became winded. I am in for the long haul, and I know it will get better! In fact yesterday it was already a little easier:D
