I am in the middle of this book and am fascinated with the historical information.

What does anyone else think of it?

I haven't read it yet but I plan to...I've heard really good things about it :D

I just finished it yesterday! I enjoyed it.....and wonder how much of it has any historical evidence to back it up. I was going to do a search on some of the organizations and poke around to see what I came up with.

Yep, I thought it was really good. I even looked up some things from the book to see if they were true or not. Some of it is not factual, some of it is. I pulled up a picture of the lost supper looking for a woman in it.

I think I did. Isn't that the one where the took DNA out of a vault and "cloned" Christ?

I took it with a grain of salt. It was pretty interesting, but I assumed the science was a little far-fetched. I do think there's a section in the back where they talk about the science of it, and say it's closer than you think.

I read the Da Vinci code and like it as did all my friends that I loaned it to. It didn't have a lot of good character development, which I really like in a book, but the story and plot were quite good. I found it almost *exhausting* in that the story takes place over a 48 hour hour period. That was kind of strange.

As far as the stuff that is presented--I think Dan Brown did a good amount of research I immensely enjoyed the religious history he presented. I believe most of it is factual (not that this stuff is proven) but that these theories of Jesus, Mary, etc have been around a long time and written about extensively by others. The theories presented in the book are quite believeable and I would imagine many Christians would find the book disturbing or a *joke*. I found it very enlightening and it explained many things to me, and built upon many other things I have learned. The Priory de Sion actually does exist and Leonardo Da Vinci was the head of it at one time. I found several documents during my research that show the original "Last Supper" painting does, indeed, have a woman seated beside Jesus. Also, the Last Supper was *restored* several times and had that image removed at some point. I think, since then, it has been restored back to its original state.

If you liked "The DaVinci Code" pick up a copy of "Angels and Demons" (out in paperback). It is the first book with the Robert Langdon character and was equally good. It takes place primarily in Vatican City and Rome and was a great read.

Also, if you like this type of book look for "The Eight" by Katharine Neville. It takes place both in the present and during the French Revolution and I thought it was fascinating.
